Currently there are 22 characters though and most are pretty unique, some like the Paladin and Spellblade need a clear buff though
Both of their special skills require you to stand still in a circle for a duration which they are both tanky BUT in late game that standing still will get you killed really quick, enemies don’t care if your tanky
At least with Paladin you have Holy magic so you can get some health but even than most attacks in the game want you to move out their way with armor, blocking, and healing being in case you do get hit

Arcane is too all over to really have a set playstyle, only thing that unites it is that all arcane stuff like multicast
And their status effect if shattered is not great
Radiance is really good though
Arcane also has brittle which is just better shattered but also less common on skills

And than my chaos skills are helping to spread more poison along with one of them scaling off Disarray stacks

Also nature can apply weakness which increases the damage of status effects

Just focus on getting to max curse level for all the maps for now
That’s gonna be your best source of progression for now
Also gonna need more skills if your gonna do Cathedral
Your pool gets smaller every round in cathedral and it has no resources, it only exist for the unlocks and nothing else
Omnipotent is best to use for it, than run runes that give you a higher chance at whatever build you want, giving you access to all skills of those two types for the whole run
Don’t get to pick the skills really but you get the skill types that you want and just build off them each round

Or if you want more choices for a skill
Although I just use whatever the character already has so I never use the skill mastery
Expect for summoners, summoners do need it to get other skill summons
