tapping induces the cold field which charges the battery, and exceptionally good at ccing enemies so there is less charge getting wasted via getting hit
1st skill with the augment causses a big succ, use to cc
additionally, "pump" the first skill button, by enabling and disabling it frequently it charges the battery in short "bursts"
leaving the skill on works too and sprinting for a while, but oddly enough, you get a decent "burst"of charge just by turning on the ability once. you turn it on and off alot and bam. you more often than not get high charge in a short time, probably move out of harms way, AND, also probably ram into enemies ragdolling them
when in doubt, mash the 1st ability.
the energy lost incurred by mashing is usually fixed via plating, the charge loss from plating is fully mitigated and then some when you mash the dash ability on and off quickly.

nah, I run some eff.
there is another strange quirk to the 1st ability.
its a bit complicated
it drains energy by a Fixed amount no matter what so when eff. "reduces" energy costs of holding the dash, it makes it so you consume less energy, per meter dashed, but more importantly the other way around you are getting more distance per energy consumed (aforementioned rate being unchanged thus incurring more distance technically)
efficiency makes the held dash faster weirdly enough
an odd little thing about making gauss a little faster
because if you notice, with efficiency, the energy loss on holding the dash doesnt seem affected, of course, duration actually will affect it since it increases the time between energy being consumed, so its really, REALLY weird
you would think something like stretch increases meter per energy but it kinda doesnt, at all.
oh and of course sprint modifiers will be the most notable and easy method of getting faster

I like to make all the stats positive on my gauss build but there are times where I use narrowminded and sacrifice range in order to get a huge redline+plating duration. since 3rd gets sacrificed for duration, I build charge in a narrowminded build just by spamming dash around

but the really powerful thing about sunder is the fact that it gets supercharged during redline, even if it has low range if there is a unit with a buttload of armor
tapping sunder puts cold, and holding puts hot, and doing it at once, makes a blast effect, and at redline, the blast effect strips armor

you should account for the value without full charge, its effectively impossible to keep redline at 100% so there are times where you dont have that 100% damage mitigation. those moments of vulnerability are really important to make sure you have the highest possible value for non redline plating.

unlike how you could theoretically upkeep certain abilities from the start of a mission to the end (Ie: chroma vex armor), redline is forced to end when the duration runs out, and you gotta start over again

yes, when gauss came out, some seasoned players were constantly trying to find out ways to have a true 100% charge uptime, they could optimize it so it charges a tad bit quicker for less downtime, but never have it actually 100% on continuously.
thats why even sometimes they might run rolling guard in those really weird niche, or add adaptation, that buffer helps gauss at the start of a mission, and between redline charging periods, helps eliminate the threat of dying outright at much higher level content.
a smart player would use an operator ability to cc the opponents before redline wears out, and have a safer window to recharge
but people are human, so while some could do that, its sometimes just easier for convenience to just slap on something a little extra for survivability.

you put two cold zones down that freezes enemies at 100% and when redline expires most of the threats are frozen and the odds of dying during the charge up is also mitigated.

yeah, tether was nerfed a bit but still really good for these things, and heck, im too lazy to grind in the arcane gatcha or in the respective faction to get it, so I use the "poor mans" options
but if you get tether, you kinda get a jail free card real easy.
just as long as you keep an eye on that redline timer and start placing them within seconds before redline ends

its already really nice with reducing the redline wind up, and reducing downtime for plating's animation, its going to be a godsend for energized munition's high recasting

energy can be consumed while holding to make the AoE bigger, and grant multiplicative damage/more status stacks to the resulting damage, which has a base value, and a value proportional to damage received thats stockpiled
you can give the feel of a devastating nuke attack, but make it in such a way you cant just outright constantly nuke with the aformentioned limitations, equal parts build up, and gratification

We're making a roguelite, bullethell TPS with superhero movement and RoR2 is a massive inspiration! It's called Warden's Will; you can find it on Steam! It is a third-person roguelite like Risk of Rain 2, but focuses more on movement, mobility, and vertical maps.
Obviously, I'm not here to ask you to buy the game (it's not even out yet), but because for the last months, we've been hard at work updating the game after our Next Fest debut, and we're having a closed playtest this weekend!
