I would suggest using some sentries, setting a re-spawn room, having a summon out and peace candles, also, there is a spawn cap, so you can kill the more annoying ones and leave the more stationary ones like arapimas and skeletons at the bottom consuming the spawn limit.

also, for the plantera fight, imo when you build an "adequate" space that feels right, double it downwards vertically, because plantera shoots bouncy spike things, but making your arena twice as "tall" downwards and using a platform halfway as your "bottom line" gives space for the spike balls to bounce mostly harmlessly (im pretty sure they cant bounce on platforms but just solid blocks)

fun fact, falling momentum is reset even if you hold downwards on platforms, but railways can actually be grappled onto, but the player cannot stand on them, so you can also do that to retain downwards momentum more easily and have easy access to grapple points

horizontal railways about 10 blocks apart is good, also there is a grapple hook known as the dissonance hook I think? you can get it from queen slime at a chance and it "teleports" you to the location, letting you grapple "through" attacks

as soon as i came down there the first time and every second afterwards i was met with god's fucking insect army and now there's nothing

for trapped chests the easiest solution without wiring tools is to mine under the chest, you can probably see the actual dynamite blocks and most likely dig most of them out in the process and clear out any nearby remaining ones, then plug the tunnel under the chest and open it.
any darts will fly over your head, and since youre in a sealed tunnel, any boulders that drop will simply roll away

imma be honest, expert mode imo is better than classic, yes harder mobs, but the expert exclusive drops are simply too divine.
like % damage reduction from worm, free evade from brain, dash from eye, infinite flight from EoL, slime immunity from King slime, the list goes on, and a whole other accessory slot, its all so good in expert that the added stats are hardly anything to me, and also in multiplayer loot is divided into player exclusive loot bags, so no fighting too.

plantera for the fight honestly becomes single target DPS, while going in circles, into AOE DPS while going in circles, then back to single target DPS while going in circles. mostly just the whole, going in circles part

the three singular things that cuck me the most is 1. poison 2. its grabby hands do damage 3. bouncy spike balls (mitigated with tall pit arena)
