After a couple months of doing it once a week, I just told the guy it wasn’t for me and thanks for letting me try

when I played DnD I played loosely along with how the character would act, which basically meant just speaking how I would normally talk, but just things that the character actually had. still had some semblances of "I do this to help that guy" or "I want to X" but its way less corny

I think roleplaying exactly like how the character would act would be suffocating, both to the lobby and player themselves, games are meant to be fun, so I think keeping it loose is healthier.

Its mostly the DM's choice that dictates this honestly, the DM's ive had has been far more relaxed about the "in character" things, they've always been a blast

or maybe im biased im not sure

I remember this one time where I landed a Nat 20, the opponent landed a Nat 1, and then I landed another Nat 20 and killed them
