And your biggest enemy is ticking clock and needing to get to places fast enough, and do things efficiently enough or else your life becomes harder and or, you instantly lose.

Oh, and your kill count is permanently displayed in a corner the entire time

As long as you're not digging into magma on purpose it's very hard to lose

Metal ore is everywhere, wood is also everywhere

If you're near any body of water you have infinite food from fisherdwarves

And also you don't need water to survive

Because beer doesn't need water to be produced

Dwarves might be grumpy but I've rarely seen them just go ham without a reason

Like in all my hours I've had dwarf actually go insane once and it was because of a bug

Combat is easy too, you just make equipment and tell dwarves to train

And then a trained dwarf clad in iron can kill dozens of animals without taking a scratch

If you make steel and have them train for like a year, you have a squad of dwarves that can go 1:10 and win

And if you want to you can just make traps and just not fight fair

There's basically no danger, game is very forgiving and most of the difficulty is self imposed

Because building an impenetrable, self sustaining fortress is very easy

Like the biggest danger I've faced so far was a swamp titan showing up and trying to eat my kids

It ate one before a random guest just punched it to death

Or a horde of troglodytes that died to 10 iron clad dwarves, none of which took a scratch from about 50 trogs they've killed

It's pretty relaxing and is basically carried by it's random generation of everything

Even the whole "in depth simulation of every thought of every creature" is something you can just completely forget since you never have to interact with it

Like in rim world character traits matter because they directly affect what the characters like to do and how good they are at doing stuff

In df at best I just don't let frail and very weak dwarfs into military
