it varies, later stages generally have more. But on like stage 1 you can expect at least 6-8, usually a little more, stage 5 can easily have like 20+

and technically any amount is enough to fight a boss, it's possible to beat the whole game itemless if you're good enough (but it is really hard)

Ideally you do wanna get all the items on a stage though

Focus on finding items. Damage items like and have their damage multiply off each other, as well as other funky stuff like and or for big burst damage.
Also whenever you encounter someone saying that rushing is a good strat somewhere, they're just flat out wrong

yeah, 20 minutes is way too long
a good rule of thumb is to try to get at least one item per minute, but it's okay to spend time on stuff like finding printers and scrappers or whatever. It's also worth grabbing drones if you have cash for them (equipment drones are especially good with the right item), but items are priority

I wouldn't consider scythe a trash item tbh, the healing output is actually alright so long as you have half-decent crit and attack speed

Acrid isn't overly dependent on items as long as you're using poison, so it doesn't matter too much, but direct damage multipliers like etc. work really nicely to buff poison's damage

I'm trying to do high runs but i get stuck around the 60s stages mark. My fps drops to 1 and when i click on the tp to go to the next stage my money doesn't drain, it increases and decreases but doesn't drain to zero. It takes really long to get to the next stage because of that money issue, and when it does my game works perfectly fine, then a couple stages later my game drops to 1 fps and the money issue comes back. I've already lowered and adjusted my settings to the lowest i can get. Was wondering if there's a way around this? Or what specifically is causing this issue? Might be an overlord from how many items i got but I'd appreciate other people's thoughts on this. (I don't have the best of laptops btw but it's not horrible.)

If i had to guess, it probably has to do with integer limit stuff and/or the game trying to render a ridiculous amount of xp bubbles when it converts gold to xp, you could try turning off gold effects but it probably wouldn't change much

Yeah, I disabled money and exp effects it didn't do anything. The integer limit does make sense, i was just questioning it because it is possible to go to the next stage (after 20mins to 30mins) and the game runs fine, but the issue comes back after a couple of stages. Integer limit is most definitely the problem but the switch up is confusing me.

yeah, the save loss bug is a known issue. You could try enabling/disabling steam cloud to see if that changes anything, but I don't think there's a consistent fix.
Worst case scenario you could try using the realercheatunlocks mod to force the unlock, dunno if that would unlock it permanently but at least you wouldn't have to do the trial again.

there's a known bug atm with unlock progress not triggering or not being saved. Unfortunately I don't know if there's any guaranteed way to fix it (although I've heard that it might be related to cloud saving), but it should just work eventually

if you're on pc you can also use the realercheatunlocks mod to force the unlock

also, the challenges section in the logbook will show progress on certain unlocks, so you could check that to see if it's working
