Hey guys, I just got the SotS DLC and wanted to know how to get the False Son character. I've seem a few videos and some comments, but am not sure how to get the item + to the boss fight
you get the item from going to the gilded coast, which spawns after finding a gold shrine that rarely spawns, (looks like a chance shrine) and completing the teleporter event
after completing the gilded coast, you need to pick up the item and defeat false son
do be wary though, the item causes the unique boss to spawn again as an additional enemy during phase 3

its the kinda thing that you just kind of have to look out for though, theres not much you can do to increase your odds

they cant spawn on the first stage, best chance you have is from looping
if you have the artifact of sacrifice it becomes much more common due to the lack of chests (and therefore increased amounts of other interactables)
command too if you havent got sacrifice, due to lack of scrappers and printers
you can also go to gilded coast via the lunar seers in the bazaar
it's my preferred method of getting there since it's a lot less rare
it has a chance of replacing either of the seers on any given stage
i'd just recommend going to the bazaar every stage and also searching every stage for a gold shrine tbh

does anyone know why im lagging so much when i play seekers of the storm? I had over 200 hours with ror2 and sotv before sots was added, and I experience no lag, but when i play with sots (joining friends) my fps drops to like 15-30, and even less on dlc maps

what items are good on fiend

he's a pretty good all-rounder so most things will work, on-hit procs and damage multipliers are strong go-tos as always. Crit chance is especially good as he gains 2% corruption every time he gets a crit.
The main thing you wanna avoid are healing items that you can't easily control, like
. He's got a powerful built-in heal already so he barely needs healing items to begin with, and uncontrollable healing just makes it harder to go corrupt when you want to. (
are good though, regen doesn't affect corruption and the corruption gained from crits outweighs scythe's healing as long as you don't stack too many)
what if I like controlled over corrupted? do I just go for healing items
You already have a button to sap away 25% corruption whenever you want
^ and you still mainly want damage items either way. Locking yourself out of going corrupt entirely isn't really a great idea, but if you absolutely hate being corrupted, then yeah, grab a wungus or something ig

what are thoughts on longstanding solitude and prayer beads
basically money = level and level = stats
prayer beads are pretty alright, if you cash them in at around 20 stacks of the buff it gives around 3-4 levels worth of stats
I've only used LS once at the very end of a run to get its log so I have no real opinion on it lol, I don't use lunars much. But the consensus I've heard seems to be that it's powerful but not very fun (and it can softlock you at gilded coast)

I'm not sure the camera angle matters much, just keep it more or less level and try to find a slope that's ~45 degrees, and jump at it until it works. I think it also works better if you find a slope that curves upwards, like the trench in abandoned aqueduct
The requirements for it aren't too specific, you kinda just get a feel for where it'll work with practice

does the amount of enemies alive has any influence on how fast other enemies spawn? if so, what's that inlfuence exactly?
there's an enemy limit of 40, but other than that the number of monsters alive doesn't affect spawn rate
it is worth noting that there might be less enemies around before/after a bunch of strong enemies show up bc of how director credits work but there's no direct impact on spawn rate

if you didn't know, glass doubles your damage with every stack, so you were getting 2^36x damage from the glass alone. And with all the other damage multipliers you had on top of that, it would be weird if you weren't dealing damage in cookie clicker numbers lmao

If you wanna fight the boss just go straight through the primordial teleporter, if you want to loop, interact with the prong things around the teleporter's edge before activating it

For the most part you just wanna keep him at a medium distance and punish him when he's vulnerable, usually right after an attack. Staying near the ramps helps a lot, since he mostly has melee attacks it's easy to damage him from above. Drones are also pretty useful because he's really stupid and will spend half the fight flailing around trying to swat them out of the air
just say its more unstable and should only be enabled when you are playing cross platform ¯_(ツ)_/¯

be ready to get close to him in phase 3 when he starts doing big spinny, it's easiest to dodge by getting close and moving along with the walls. He always alternates between spinny and the big shockwave attack, so you can kinda predict it

oh yeah, and for the fourth phase, the safest strat is to just stick to cover and poke him to death from a distance.
If you're impatient or don't have any ranged attacks, stay close to him instead and keep circlestrafing so he can't turn to face you

Why does everyone say engineer is good? I played him and was extremely underwhelmed
it helps if you get his alt secondary and utility
but in general he is pretty strong if you know how to use him, especially lategame. The fact that he's basically got two disposable clones of himself gives him some really good item interactions that other survivors can't really take advantage of

Assuming you mean commando- nah, they're not that bad, 20 stages is just time-consuming. Unlock slide first though if you haven't already, it's a huge improvement over roll and it literally takes less than 5 minutes to unlock.
You'll probably kill an overloading worm on the way to 20 stages, and if you haven't unlocked clover yet you'll kill two birds with one stone
and ofc you can use artifacts or lower the difficulty to make it easier, if you want

it's a bit of a process, first get to stage 5 and find the huge machine hidden in the level (either on the platform underneath sky meadows or at the very top of helminth hatchery).
there are 9 circle things where you enter a code corresponding to the artifact you wanna unlock, there'll be one code right next to the machine as an example and the rest are hidden throughout the game. From there you'll do a trial thing where you unlock the artifact

Other than the altar of gold, the other way is to visit the Bazaar every stage to see if you get the lunar seer

What's the Merc tech
There's 2 main ones, trimping and expose transfer
I don't really know expose transfer, but trimping involves using your whirlwind M2 into a slope to gain insane vertical height, although you sometimes take damage when doing it since sots.
if you mean the expose tech, what you have to do is dash or use secondary at the very start of your 3rd sword swing. the 3rd swing's hitbox is uncancellable during its first few frames of animation, so if you use another skill during that window, you can have both attacks active at the same time.
One trick to make it easier is to do it at point-blank range so that enemies get hit the instant the sword hitbox comes out, which gives you a few extra frames of hitpause where you can do the tech.

How do you get tranquility with seeker
just use her special
the flower symbol above her skills shows how many stacks of it you have
what does it do and when does it go away? Tike limit? Portal?
it resets each stage and gives various buffs to your skills.
specifically, each stack gives:
+1% to all of your stats
+20% damage to the 3rd hit on your primary
+4% healing on unseen hand
+2 extra hits for soul spiral orbs before they expire
+increased blast radius on sojourn
+more damage and healing from special
specifically the 7th time you use it each stage, it'll revive allies and give everyone the saving grace buff (which is basically just an elixir and a 7% stat buff)
it would be really nice if the game told you all of that but I don't think it's explained anywhere lol. (except the wiki)
How does it revive allies? Is it when i use my special? Or is it when i have full tranquility
it's when you use your special, anyone who's dead on the stage gets revived.
Note that it ONLY works on the 7th use, so you can only do it once per stage. So if you wanna use it, it's best to only build up 6 stacks and save the 7th one for when you need to revive people
in singleplayer you can just go straight to 7 stacks though, to get all of the buffs

How do i get the most usage out of sojurn? Is it longer i stay in it the more damage i do?
yep, the longer you're in it, the larger and more powerful the blast radius becomes when you exit. It works especially well with soul spiral, since you're invincible aside from the self damage. You can safely deal a ton of damage to tanky enemies with orbs while building up barrier, then finish off any smaller enemies with the explosion from sojourn
Why are there 3 toggle options for the expansion packs?
wdym? there's one for sojourn and one for artificer (vanilla)
The 'X' option is used for multiplayer voting, it doesn't do anything in singleplayer
maybe they mean the default 'on' state, a 'vote for' and 'vote against'
ohh yeah that's for everything
you can disable it in multiplayer if you tick off multiplayer voting, but it doesn't do anything solo
Does anyone have any advice to beating Monsoon Mythrix or guides/video recommendations that helped them beat him? I feel like I scale well if I take my time till the 4th stage, but my damage falls off much harder stage 5 and 6. If I try going faster and not full clearing it still feels the same.
It's always better to full clear, just be as efficient as you can- getting at least one item per minute is a good rule of thumb, but you can take some extra time to use printers and scrappers, or find a good item for an equipment drone or whatever. Difficulty scales with stage count as well as time, so it's best to make the most of every stage, and full looting gives you more items to work with.
And yeah, it's not uncommon for stage 5 and 6 to be a difficulty spike, at that point you're fighting stronger enemies in larger numbers than you'd see on previous stages, and if you don't already have a god run going then it's a bit of a skill check. Just stay focused on looting and never stop moving

It's a mix of things, in solo runs I've gotten to Commencement but I've noticed it just takes a lot of time to just clear teleporter alone, so I usually don't even bother with looting stage 5 much outside 1 or 2 chests. There's so many dangerous and tanky enemies like the elder lizards, xi constructs, and grandparent. If I do get to Commencement it's usually lunar chimeras or Mithrix stage 3/4. I just need to get better at dodging pizzas and the enemies that spawn for stage 3 but stage 4 is rough cause of how fragile I feel.

safer spaces activates first, then echo triggers on the next hit while SS is on cooldown. (Blocking damage basically treats it as if the hit didn't happen, so on-damage effects don't get activated)

Stage 5 has the most items so you're skipping even more scaling for yourself by doing that. Gotta get all the items. Don't worry about being time efficient while full looting till you learn how to full loot in the first place
It's absolutely worth it to loot stage 5- it's got the most loot of any stage and usually has a good amount of multishops and printers.
Elder lems usually can't catch up to you as long as you keep moving and use verticality to your advantage, and they're easy to deal with at a distance if you can dodge between their fireballs. Up close they're super vulnerable to being stunned, and you can bait out their flamethrower attack for some easy damage.
Grandparents can be more or less ignored unless they're the tp boss, their only really dangerous attack is the sun, which they won't do until they're at 50% health. You can kill them at a distance to get them out of the way but otherwise they're a nuisance at worst.
For Xi's, stay near cover to avoid the laser and lay into them when they do their summon attack, if you have any damaging on-kill items you can rack up a ton of free damage by repeatedly killing the alphas it summons. AoE and piercing attacks also go through their shield

For big spinny- just stay close to it and try to move along with the lines. He always alternates between spinny and the big shockwave attack with a 30s cooldown between them, so you can sorta predict it
If you notice a massive swarm of enemies, do you tend to run away, fight them one by one, or just try to circle strafe them?

I've tried that but he keeps spawning the lunar balls and the tanks (dont remember their name) and those tend to swarm pretty hard as well.
depends on the situation, circlestrafing and picking off enemies is always a good option but if I'm low on health (or just don't need any extra gold- remember that you don't NEED to kill every enemy) I'll probably just run.
yeah, sometimes you just get unlucky with their spawns, in that case there's not much you can do but try to dodge them and spinny at the same time- which is doable, just difficult.
I also try to stay near the ramps and away from the center of the arena, that seems to make the golem chimeras more likely to spawn near the edges, that way they won't be near you when you have to run to the center for big spinny.
As for phase 4, there are a few tricks to it. The most reliable strat is to just play it safe, stay behind the pillars and bait his attacks, then peek out and poke him to death while they're on cooldown. It's slow, but it works.
If you're impatient or don't have any ranged damage, it's possible to outmaneuver him up close- he's slow and has limited turn speed, so if you can circlestrafe and stay at his back, he can't hit you.
If you've got any minions, another trick is to stay near him while he's stealing your items, then run away at the last minute. That way your minions will lag behind and aggro to him when he's vulnerable instead of following you, which gives you a distraction and some easy damage. If you've got

You can use the geodes to cleanse it because its a debuff

tbf they do cleanse lunar ruin, so it's not a huge leap to assume they can cleanse the silence thing (and it's basically the only thing you can do at that point). But yeah some kind of indicator wouldn't hurt
So I’ve recently gotten the SOTS dlc but haven’t gotten around to unlocking chef. I’ve heard that he sucks hard and I’m wondering why that is. Is his dps just really bad?
yeah, bad dps and in general he's just really clunky and feels bad to play. He's not unusable but it's hard to argue that he isn't one of the weakest survivors in the game right now, if not the weakest
plus he got some weird and kinda pointless changes from ror1 that most people didn't like, like only being to throw one cleaver at a time and having to manually recall them, or his secondary becoming a worse version of flamethrower instead of a quick burst of damage
Yeah I was reading his ability descriptions and I thought that manually recalling cleavers seemed like an odd choice for such a fast paced game
imo he kinda feels like it was gearbox's first attempt at making a survivor and they didn't really have a good feel for what works and what doesn't

nah, the whole dlc was made by gearbox, hopoo doesn't work on the game anymore

honestly to me the cleaver thing is a fun gimmick, the issue is the weird-ass decisions they made with it like giving it m1 stocks or giving it a 0.5 proc coeff that doesn't even trigger on recall hits
chef in general is kind of just an "ok but why do it like this" character
I wouldn't mind it if recalling them faster actually let you deal more dps or something, or if the cleavers could keep doing damage when they're spinning in the air, anything to justify having them work the way they do.

theres not really many actual set stage routes
basically each stage of a loop has a pool of stages it randomly picks from whenever you go there
the only way to know for sure where youll go is to use the lunar seers in the bazaar or do one of the alternate routes (void or colossus path)
if you dont have sots then stage 5 will always be sky meadow though

each stage can only show up on a certain stage number. some stages are always going to show up as a first stage, some will only show up on the second or third stages. this resets when you loop

the big issue with blight is that applying more stacks doesn't refresh the debuff duration, so your damage is really heavily capped
so even in ideal scenarios it's only ever a little more damage for a lot more upkeep, and it usually gets out damaged by poison anyway bc of the %hp damage
if you enjoy the playstyle more though then that's perfectly fair, just be aware that it is technically outclassed

i'd argue yes, since the turrets cant run away, but straight damage is generally better on mid-far range
i will usually keep one personally
its kinda more like reapplications matter since it always ticks out the full value. if you have half a poison and reapply, you just get one new poison. if youre halfway through a blight stack ticking and reapply, it will keep dealing its damage and the new one is more bonus
its the main strength over poison, it always gets full value and high aggression allows the loads of poison app in your kit to actually matter, as opposed to epidemic keeping everything perma poisoned and poisonous on everything else kinda rarely matters since 10s cd and 10s poison duration
I just played with someone in eclipse multiplayer and we fought the false son boss twice in a single run, but when I play alone in monsoon singleplayer the green portal never spawns more than once, no matter how many times I loop, has anyone else had this problem?

cause like i assume its just trying to spawn the most expensive thing possible and it might still be falling outside the range of cost it wants to spend. in the past that had caused lots of 'nothing spawns' issues late game, and they tried to make it override and just spawn anyways but when you start getting reeeeeeeeeeeeally expensive it gets really confused
it tries to bump up the target cost which is what makes bosses and stuff start spawning more, but it does it by filtering cards by cost. so it can filter itself into a position where it cant do anything

there is the fact that he can't qutie hit you with slam if you're moving around him quickly and are off the ground but then that makes me wonder how it would affect your rotation speed if your grapple suddenly goes from long-ish to super short

Loader's grapple doesn't really simulate tension, it just has constant acceleration towards the hook point. You might inherit some velocity from the thing you're attached to, but getting a huge boost of speed seems to be a unique interaction with pylon for some reason
(also I tried it and it doesn't seem like staying grappled to fs when he dashes has any significant effect on your momentum)
this clip sucks because I managed to bonk into a pillar right as he dashed, but in a way it might be kinda perfect because I had neutral momentum right when he dashed lol

full loot stages, yes the timer can matter but as long as you're having fun and looting and not standing around--- you'll be better off than speed running or timing your stages.
different survivors prefer different items and some are way better than others. there are good youtubers to watch for survivor advice that are fairly short like QuattroTheHuman
learning what items you like and dont like and what each items do helps a lot-- you'll learn to scrap items and print and start optimizing your build a bit.

If you've got enough mobility or an item like
you can skip pillars and climb straight up to the arena, but if you have to do them, try to clear out most of the pre-spawned enemies on the stage before you start. Lunar enemies spawn really slowly after the initial wave, and for the ones that do spawn just try to play around cover as much as you can (especially with the flying ones). It's fine to leave the charging area for a bit if you have to.
also avoid doing soul pillar if at all possible, that one is horrible

I'm thinking maybe the individual barrier gain gets drained out by Aegis too quick, and since the hits don't actually happen all at once, they were spread out just enough for Aegis to decay every instance of barrier
and it's spread out by corpsebloom
Corpsebloom caps it at 10% per second which is still a lot more than Barrier decay (3.33% per second)
barrier decay is unrelated to aegis btw
if anything I would just guess that Transcendence disables it somehow
I think it's to do with Flurry more likely, the hits just weren't close together enough and Barrier decay kicked in quicker than the time it took for each instance of Flurry arrow shots to register healing
couple that with Transcendence increasing max barrier threshold making decay worse for flat healing

the freeze execute kills anything besides a teleporter boss when it gets below 30% health and is hit by something, while frozen, and ion surge is a lot better than flamethrower but it's not better in every way

If it's something you need tested and not something mid run, you can just use Debugtoolkit and give_item what you need for the scenario. Time_scale 0.25 also will help visualize it, that's how I tested the 12 from vanilla

he is a good bit harder than mithrix though, so i wouldnt do him stage 4, which is the earliest you could fight him

unlocking void fiend in simulacrum is the best way to do it right now (and it's arguably the best way in general)
