You could play with another person who owns the dlc to get those achievements
iirc you do need the dlc bc you can't get the character unlocks if you don't own it

Just a drawback with steam achievements is you can’t mark some as DLC

how am i supposed to pace my time, by the time i get to stage 4 im almost always in impossible or ISEEYOU no matter how fast im trying to go, should i not collect as much? im struggling a lot with this game right now
you basically want to pace yourself by how many items you have at a given time. Usually you want to completely loot stages of their items and do so efficiently so that you have around 1 item for every minute on your timer
I like to have 1.5 items per minute on the timer, just to have a little leeway

As long as you mostly adhere to that you shouldn’t be outscaled
usually last but sometimes it’s ok to do it towards the end but not exactly last
enemies drop less gold during teleporter and they won’t spawn after it’s complete so often you just won’t get many items for the stage if you do tele first

The bugs weren't from the dlc itself rather the updates
Generally the base game isn't really ruined besides one annoying enemy added in the dlc getting spammed in over half the stages
again, dlc content is average, it's the update that comes with the dlc that causes the bugs

If you decide to get them I recommend starting with Survivors of the Void, void items are a neat mechanic and it's pretty much universally considered the better dlc
Seekers is still a little rough around the edges, it's gotten a lot better and is still being updated, but if you only get one or the other then SotV is the one to get

Merc has the ability to do that aswell, built in double jump + crazy mobility with his skills

It's less about the items, and more about the tech's on him that'll make ya good. Any sorta damage is good tho, same with mobility

technically yes, but the normal path to voidling is disabled in eclipse. You can only get there via the glass frog so you have to kill mithrix either way

Hello! Today I've had the silliest run where, among several other oddities, we had way more items replaced by Eulogy Zero than we expected. Does 57 Leaf Clover on someone else's inventory count towards another person's Eulogy Zero, for any reason whatsoever??
it's not affected by luck at all, you probably just got some good (or bad, depending on how you look at it) RNG
it IS a global effect though, so one person having eulogy will affect everyone
or if multiple people have it, it'll add up the total number of stacks
Hold on a minute, that's not what I saw on the wiki. 57 Leaf Clover does affect Eulogy Zero according to its exhaustive list of things it can effect

can make it do 4x damage on turrets, at the cost of proc chance
iirc it's more commonly used on mobile turrets though
the turrets have very similar damage and proc output so visions is a somewhat big upgrade on both

How do you aviod the grandparents attacks? I'm just taking damage and theres nothing I can do to stop it
It gets blocked by walls and other terrain, and also only covers a certain range around the grandparent
If there's a shadow on the floor, its safe to stand there
(This also applies to the Wandering Vagrant explosion attack)
What kind of attack is it? Everything looks "burning" and i was pretty far
Just taking my entire health over about 8 seconds
It applies an effect to you that inflicts you with increasing stacks of the burn effect
The longer you stand in it the higher the damage gets, and the longer it lasts when you leave the area its affecting
Grandparents only start to use the attack once theyve reached half health
It can only use the attack once it goes below 50% HP, so its a matter of being aware of it and preparing
Also, it can be used to kill other enemies since it hits everything!
How do you prepare? Find the shadows ?
Try to spot when they are raising their arms above their heads

Ideally look for safe spots before the grandparent even starts the attack so you can react quicker

Base crit damage is 200% and laser scope turns that to 300% so effectively 50% more damage from crits whereas behemoth is 60% more damage on all hits with added aoe

He's a pretty good all-rounder if you're using desperado, he has decent procs and burst damage so you can focus on either depending on what items you get. Although with lights out you'll probably rely on procs more
Crit synergy items are obviously good with his passive, especially shatterspleen, but actual crit chance isn't super necessary
also not really an item but drones are extra helpful with his cloak, having minions around makes it much more likely that enemies will switch targets while you're invisible (since they can still technically "see" you once per second while cloaked)
Mithrix kills are the only ones counted in the "win" stat?
Cooldown reduction is also great if you wanna build into desperado specifically,

the other endings are "fate unknown" whereas Mithrix is the only one that actually gives you a victory. I don't usually pay any attention to my stats lol

i noticed grandparent's sun burn attack damages seeker through sojourn ability, is this supposed to happen?? the wiki states that seeker is immune to damage while in sojourn?

you have decent odds to see it in one of the seers which will guarantee, and if not you could still get it normally. that will cost lunar coins, but not too many. 1 for newt, 3 more if rallypoint is available

All health that isnt gotten from levelling up counts towards growth
And tonic is arguably the best health buff in the game so if you can make the tonic build on fs you absolutely should

it would, and stone flux is "better" in the sense that you get more growth from it, but you have to compensate for it quite a lot
but tonic is a vastly better buff overall, and you can still compensate for affliction if you don't get too much of it. Plus growth has diminishing returns, so the smaller health buff isn't necessarily that much worse
Yeah stone flux is just an easier grab

The run ended at stage 27 when the game crashed at that point PC went blue screen and died this information is a bit irrelevant but yeah
yeah, that's a known bug with void seeds, sometimes void monsters just don't exist even though the game thinks they should.
Really late stages are also prone to weird spawning bugs in general so it's not too surprising that you're seeing it often

yeah 20 is fine, there isn't really an optimal amount
iirc it has diminishing returns so usually 20 is about as many as you can get anyway, it's about 4 levels worth of stats
and the diminishing returns carry over even if you scrap it and get another one so yeah, it doesn't matter too much. Ideally you wanna get as many buff stacks as you can but it's better to scrap it too early than to not at all
The levels themselves are the same but it takes exponentially longer to fill each new buff stack cause of how level scaling works

Yeah Nkuhanas needs a LOT of setup and item real estate to get it to a serviceable level, and the low proc coefficient kinda screws it over no matter what
it especially doesn't help that it has a built-in fire rate cap of 10 skulls per second, I forgot to mention that earlier but it's yet another reason why it would be better to stack other multipliers instead of just getting more healing

But 2 instances of damage will bypass that and will kill you, which is gonna be 90% of the times
There are so many things that multihit that it often won't work even if you think it should

in general though, merc is arguably at his best when he fights like an absolute crackhead and dives into crowds of enemies, because more enemies means more expose, which means more damage and shorter cooldowns. If you play him right he basically gets stronger the more overwhelmed he is

Okay. im just done with playing for 50+ minutes just to get instakilled
Phase 1: Dashes, swings hammer, jumps high and does a shockwave
Phase 2: Summons a bunch of little guys for you to kill
Phase 3: Phase 1 but faster, stronger, and now he does this pizza thing thats easier to avoid the further you are (blue lines on the ground, do NOT stand on them because they deal a billion damage)
Phase 4: Takes all of your items but cant use certain ones and he'll shoot blue darts at you and summon orbs
They're easy to dodge
This phase is easy as long as you get your items back (go hide behind one of the pillars and shoot him from a range if you have to)
I died to mithrix like 10 times before finally beating a run
every time after that it felt consistent enough
trying to keep a fair distance makes him a lot easier, he cant kill you if he cant hit you

It's best to get used to it at this point
But yeah, Mithrixs entire fight is kind of funny because if you have enough vertical movement (be it by Milky Chrysalis or through Hopoo Feather + Headset), and, well, as long as you have mobility items, chances are you're going to stay far enough from Mithrix that he can't do...much of anything to you. Because he's a melee boss
If you haven't realized this by now, mobility items are pretty much obligatory to have in order to survive better in this game -- so if you see any Energy Drinks or Hoofs, don't skip on them unless you are in dire need of damage/healing items
Dodge stuffs > outheal or facetank damage
Runs in Rainstorm and Monsoon/Eclipse very easily scale too much for facetanking / outhealing to be a viable strategy 90% of the time
You have to basically break the game in order to make that viable, and even then you'll probably still want one Dio's Best Friend because you can and will be instakilled at some point lol
mithrix is basically just a matter of keeping your distance and then punishing him when he's vulnerable
you also have to get used to the idea that you're not gonna melt him like you can with other bosses. unless you're looping or have an early god run, it's usually a war of attrition

so I just started playing yesterday and was wondering what the best way to learn the game fast is. I've played games similar before so I already understand the concept pretty well. But how do I determine what good builds/items are? I've been looking at different tier lists, but still not exactly sure what to build on each character.
oh and also should I be speedrunning the portals because of the difficulty increase? Or is it better to loot the entire map first?

When you're still learning the game, full looting to learn the maps and the different variations of the maps can be good, as long as you have an understanding of the way the difficulty will increase as well (which it seems like you do)

ror2's items are kinda designed with the games' randomness in mind, so you don't really have to get specific "builds" like you do with some other roguelikes.
usually, characters will lean towards either proc items (
etc.) or burst items (
+any other reliable damage multipliers). But more often than not, it's best to get a mix of a lot of different things so that they can build off of each other
thats good, the build thing gets annoying fast so I like it being more random
I'd definitely recommend checking the logbook to see more specific descriptions of what items do, and/or turning on the 'inspect item' thing in game settings if you haven't already. Item synergies are usually pretty straightforward, so oftentimes just knowing exactly what an item does is enough to help figure out how to build around it
it's not like TBOI or whatever where every item has a million slightly different interactions with every other item lol

fun fact: the amount of gold dropped from enemies increases in real time, but chest prices only update at the start of the stage, so farming gets more efficient the longer you hang around
it's based on enemy level iirc, and since enemies get stronger in real time, so do their gold drops
usually what I do is loot everything except whatever's near the teleporter before starting it, then spend extra gold on the stuff I left nearby.
but this is also another reason why it's good to spend time looting and not rush straight to the teleporter

there are two basegame endings, one being mithrix and the other being obliterating yourself.
If you loop from stage 5 instead of going to the moon, the 3rd stage of every loop will spawn a celestial portal where you can go to obliterate and end the run
although if you don't do either ending, then yeah, you can keep looping forever until you die or the game crashes
just take the main teleporter, and don't interact with the prong things around the sides of it

The game applies the monsoon regen multiplier after calculating slug/knurl/irradiant pearl regen boosts, so they are affected by monsoon

Normal Legendary chests can spawn normally in addition to the guaranteed one. This is true of any Stage 4

Yes this is true, but I've never noticed my being this lucky on the other stage 4s, only on Sundered Grove. Which only makes me suspicious because that's the one with 5 spots instead of the same spot every time like Abyssal Depths

they should always be there, they're built into the map. I'm not even sure it's possible for them to not spawn
although I have seen cases where the teleporter spawned on top of one of them making it inaccessible

I've had it show 0/1 when I opened it, and show 1/2 when I used a radar scanner to check the whole map. The mod just doesn't like that chest on that map for some reason

Its diminishing returns, I can't remember the exact calculations but its not possible to get to 100% block chance

its a bit difficult to say for sure given what exactly were working with, but 143165576 stacks is the lowest i can get the compiler to accept, since one more stack overflows the int limit. presumably once it overflows it just wont be possible to generate a smaller number, so it auto succeeds?.. im not really sure
with 143165576*15, forcing a util checkroll with -10000000 luck does have both passes and fails, at a fairly similar rate tbh. but adding one more stack up to 143165577 just wont compile
in game, since tougher isnt affected by luck, trying to see if 143165576 can fail is pretty impractical. but 143165577 does seem to block everything too

im not entirely positive exactly how all this shit is interacting, but its not invincible at the least.
i wanted to try and have simultaneous damage sources, high AS saw ticks every frame, and if it connects shrimp will fire off (it wont proc if saw is blocked, so the setup with just that didnt work)
i added shuriken to be able to have two hits go off at exactly the same time, and it appears to break through and then its able to have hits go through, presumably because with saw+shrimp+bleed, there are occasionally multiple hits per tick.
only seeing 9s leads me to believe the shrimp are being blocked?
yea once they are bled saw can just get hits in no problem. so its able to tick the same time bleed is

I've always assumed that theoretically, if you were getting hit on every frame, the 1-frame cooldown would mean that any block chance over 50% would actually perform better, but I've never tried it
so 1 frame delay, but things that hit every frame cant get through. but multiple in one frame can get through

they look extremely similar tbh, with the 64 presumably blocking every other. but once you double saw it gets melted faster since 8 tougher is still blocking every other

So I noticed growth nectar at high stacks causes ice physics, afaik this isn't the case with regular high movement speed, the I've physics persist even with stoneflux, is it changing the acceleration stat
yeah, growth nectar increases speed but not acceleration
if youre getting hit every frame then yea the CD becomes more relevant
which is funny, because thats kinda just how they compare always but every frame takes the max ramp safer and makes it more similar to normal. like the CD is often better because you arent being hit constantly, but for frequent small ticks then the consistent block % can be nicer

and the acceleration stat is also used for decelerating, so low accel makes you slippery
