forgive my bit of rambling too hard over i o n but here are the comparisons

m1

the default flame bolt deals about two times more single target damage than the plasma bolt, but the plasma bolt has AoE. Also, the burn from the flame bolt has no procs. Both are pretty much preference

flame bolt should result in about like 10% more dps early game when doing the full skill rotation, but whenever you're not using literally your entire kit into a single enemy, its a lot more damage and waaay better single target wise. The burn will fall off pretty hard in comparison if little direct dmg boosts and lots of procs

Meanwhile plasma bolt is a lot better against grouped up targets, a full discharge of m1s is like half a nanobomb of damage, can be pretty cool with , same for the rest of your kit

nanobomb is way better damage and aoe wise in general, howhever ice spear is a lot easier to land at far away targets and works on flying enemies. Ice spear is mostly sorta made redundant by ice wall against most enemies where it really matters so it's usually the least popular pick but its really good for brass and lunar wisps, it also helps you freeze mithrix for even longer

Specials
Flamethrower is pretty much playing the survivor, it lets you fully rotate your skills giving you no downtime, it gives you 22 procs over it's duration (like 1.2x faster than commando's firerate) except with a ton of damage, being 2095% direct and on average 2200% burn, and it singlehandedly makes your procs consistent and good. It is like 50-60% of your early game DPS

Ion surge sort of completely breaks that apart, turning you into waiting for cooldowns and hoping you get bands simulator, but lets you pretty much cheese extremely hard in very large safety up there. It kind of completely screws over how the survivor plays out and turns it into something pretty braindead, and as such it is shat on a lot around here, but some people really enjoy it

Its weird that burst deals 1.5x damage but has 0.5 proc coefficient. Paired with bandit's passive, hes a survivor that unironically gets weaker as the game progresses

Burst is better. Better damage until medium range and even then just use lights out at long range or close the distance

Both are great in their own right

Burst has 1.5x base damage, but blast has way higher proc coefficient. In terms of procs theyre equal, blast slightly better and the difference beetwen them gets reduced dramatically

Burst does not have long range because it has terrible damage falloff that affects it even before medium distance. Blast does not. Howhever for non-multiplier procs, its quite better
