Wrong channel ask #ror2-game-questions
how does progression in ror1 work
I thought that I'd get to a final boss or something at some point but I went through all the levels and just came back to the first level, the only diferences being that the wandering vagrant was "overloaded" and the portal was "divine"
The divine teleporter has a different interact key to go to the last stage
what does that mean
I'm confused
oh
like you press a different button to continue to the last stage but if you press the normal button you loop endlessly?
so what's the button then for controller
It'll say on the teleporter when you move up to it
I think it's the swap item key iirc
Y/triangle by default
oh poor soul
yeah that was kinda terrible
no like
there was a now-deleted message by what was pretty clearly a hacked account
oh lol
rip
btw how do I kill the overloaded bosses if I do eventually continue
because like with the overloaded vagrant I got hit like every time
at least one of its attacks hit me each time I think
for normal vagrant I did fine by just doing the commando roll to get out of the way, I dodged them all very easily
overloading bosses are really scary, watch for the small zaps there's a sort of cue for it
for the overloading worm in particular, pray
Overloading vagrants don't actually have the innate spark like regular overloadings (at least from what I remember) instead their attacks have those zaps.
This only really applies to vagrants and cremators though (though maybe cremators have a zap and I've never noticed it)
Fun facts: Overloading cremators shoot out Less Shells than regular ones
what's a zap lol
oh and btw should I keep using commando or try enforcer, bandit, or acrid more
not another one
Suncles doesn't want another 50$ 🙁
is game have updates or no
likely not
is gearbox even trying to make update or they just don't do anything
gearbox doesn't develop this game
hopoo games did
there's a number of factors that made updating the game difficult, some of which being:
- most of hopoo games is now at valve
- gearbox publishing is gone, which has to be resolved before the game can get updates
the remaining developers are trying to contact with gearbox and get something to happen, but ultimately only time will tell if anything happens
ok
i just started playing this game and i keep dying on the 1st to 3rd stage and its honestly making me not wanna play the game further any help?
what's your general strategy
i tried full clearing first like its ror2 but that didnt work so i just grab a few items then head to the teleporter
generally full looting isn't a terrible strategy here, though you do have to consider time scaling way more than ror2
around 6-7 minutes per stage is what you wanna shoot for
it is worth noting that there's no teleporter radius though
so as long as you have money, you can loot anywhere on the stage
so you can leave a few chests near the tp and then open them during the event
i noticed but the enemy spam in this game is genuinely just too much
also one of the bosses trapped me and i got jumped while in there so thats great game design
positioning is generally way more important in this game
if you're overwhelmed and struggling to kill things, it can help to run around the stage during the event so that enemy spawns are spaced out
even if it feels bad to waste time, if there's no other way to survive the event than to wait out the timer, that's better than getting overwhelmed and dying
also, be on the lookout for aoe/multihit abilities and item effects
commando's secondary, Full Metal Jacket, is an obvious example
that, and every melee skill in the game will damage everything in its range
also, enemies don't have collision
so while it may seem perilous, if you are cornered and there's no way other than through the crowd, you should go for it
repeatedly jumping and running for it will make most common enemies unable to hit you
it seems like that all the time
that feeling will probably wane as you learn enemy behaviours and such
each has its weaknesses that can be exploited
do the layouts for the map ever change
each stage has 6 variants
but generally there's 2 major layout types per stage
and for each type there's 3 slightly different versions
you can look at the wiki to see the full layouts, or collect environment logs to view them in-game
💔
i tend to get lost alot in this game and barely find anything
that's definitely how it feels at first
but you'll pick up on the patterns and layouts eventually
it helps to play at 1x zoom scale
it makes everything smaller and harder to see, but it's also way easier to tell where you are
alr thanks ill try this later because i had enough of this game for today 💔
fair
you can make each stage only have 3 variants in classic options
2 actually
does returns run with the credit system like in 2?
yes?
yes?
They're asking of returns uses a similar stage credit system to 2
to explain further, im going for the engineer beam drone achivment, and im wondering if i can boost spawn rate of drones if i put on artifact of sacrifice
and if not what can i do to better help getting that achivement, because i just finished a 4h run with no results of the achivment
it does
i think sacrifice reduces the stage credits but
you can try it i suppose
cool thank you
does the classified access codes cannon hit providence? (does it even spawn on contact light?)
yes
wahoo!!!
it only hits his first phase so it's not too impactful, but it's still fun
classified access codes my beloved ...
I think sacrifice might put a limit of 1 drone per stage, best thing to do is probably either loop a lot or get really lucky with one spawning on the contact light
bro im confused with the parent hitbox, does it only hit the ground or does it also hit the air?
that's correct
ok one more question
does the bouncy cell things with shield have one shot protection? i nuked one with a sniper shot and just took away the shield bruh
yes, shield will absorb all damage
bruh
it's the same shield that guardian's heart gives you
so you benefit from the one-shot protection too if you get that item
thats cool i guess
is there anywhere that has a list of the best abilities for each character?
Uhm, I think disputed origin made a few yr videos about it
Idk he's made teirlists
But idk if he made that
Abilities are close enough in effectiveness that personal preference shifts to which is best.
There are a few noteworthy ones but in this game a lot of the alts come down to preference
Like yeah obviously the parry is better than whirlwind, even though whirlwind is fine its just that parry is parry
And obviously backblast is better than burnout but we aren't ready for that convo
do i need to be playing the associated survivor to unlock prismatic shards?
no
just need to have the survivor unlocked
how are secrets in this game found? besides the ones where i just ||walk into the walls||
am I doing something wrong? I didn't get hit until level 10 (made sure of it with 999% damage taken) and I didn't get the achievement
the humble
we don't talk about him
You mean in general or how they were found? the biggest one was tons of community effort combing thru the game and solving some puzzles decoding some "out of place" stuff.
in general
Why does ending one of judgement stages by throwing an enemy off stage softlocks you?
It has ruined a few of my runs by now
they do die
second stage of judgement has some weird issues doesn't it
their ungodly trial scripting system biting them in the ass lol
Is there any way to start a completely new save file?
How do I like, generally improve I guess? I'm curious, because in ror2 a lot of it is using things like scrappers and printers to manage your runs, but I'm not sure how to actually "build" in this game. I feel like every time I get to stage 4-5 I always get overwhelmed so fast during TP because of the sheer horde of 40 enemies
this game is alot more focused on speed rather than crafting builds
you gather items as quickly as you can, and play around their effects to try and maximize success
navigation is extremely important for both fighting and efficient traversal of stages
mm, that does make sense
i'm sure it'll come with time I suppose then
i can tell im missing some chunks when it feels like i full looted at 5 mins lol
Would it be good to start the teleporter early and finish looting after? I notice that I finish the stages with a large sum of gold.
somewhat yes
its definitely good for time efficiency
just gotta be careful not to hit it too early and potentially lose out on stuff
Yeah what kris said
Understanding items and utilizing them to the maximum and understanding map layouts
Like snake eyes for example
If you hit two mountain shrines on a tp
Dont start that tp
Go find a shrine and go gamble because youre gonna want that crit from snake eyes
Or decaying sample
Always try to position yourself so its doing as much damage as possible
Rorr as a whole feels much more “survival” based than ror2s “minmax till you oneshot everything in a 20 mile radius”
yeah, it seems like mountains are a lot harder in this game? i normally die every time i hit one or two
triple imp overlord especially, i stand no chance
whereas ror2 theyre just free loot
Always keep in mind its entirely fair to run away during the teleporter until enemies stop spawning
Then slowly cut down the horde till just bosses are left
oh, they stop? i thought it would be infinite relative to the boss/charge like ror2
ill keep that in mind for disengaging definitely then, ive been essentially just losing ground trying to be aggro
the tp always charges (no radius) and enemies stop spawning after 90 secs
I find I never have enough credits post tp what am I doing wrong lol
credits? like, money?
uh try to aim for like 5-6 minutes per stage vaguely
lower mobility survivors on desolate forest or damp caverns might need to take 8-9 but it's really not a huge deal
Fuck damp cavern lol
its true that stage is smelly
Hmm I've tried rushing and full looting still getting used to returns
notably, enemies individually aren't really as threatening as ror2 ones... for the most part
significantly less projectiles to worry about
learn what melee attacks each enemy does and react accordingly. jump a lot. honestly imo rorr is easier than ror2 because you don't get sniped by stuff from off screen (there isn't really an off screen to get sniped from)
What's the point of leaving feedback and suggestions if hopoo is gone or am I missing something?
I'd say for ror1 going straight to the teleprter and killing a couple of enemies along the way usually works, and then start looting with the remaining money
There isn't. You would be wasting your time.
oh ok then
Captain build with command?
Captain? Do you mean piolet?
They do die but it doesn't finish the stage
So you're stuck in that stage
captain isnt in this game
go to #ror2-discussion or #ror2-game-questions
do i aim for the first (light pink) or second (darker) reload as sniper
First
How to play sniper
backflip > m2 to slide like a gamer
rinse repeat until you win
not even kidding sniper gameplay is mostly just landing the nastiest charge shots until you win
yeah like kris said, backflip m2 is the best combo
you can also jump while charging your m2 to dodge stuff if you wanna delay the backflip
jumping while sliding like a gamer also makes you go farther
also get into a rhythm with your primary, tap, reload, tap, reload, etc
or just run alt primary it's technically better (worse earlygame tho)
sniper's one of my favorite characters to play, on paper they'd seem to lack AoE with their default kit but really they don't
It’s very good
Not only do you not have to reload afterwards, but it has great knockback AND can be used while charging both secondaries
So if your backflip isn’t an option you can bash enemies to push them into your line of sight for a big shot
Sniper is too good
HAN-D
boxing glove
Hey any idea which Commando loadout is best or all of his abilities good?
All are good
Tho slide has a weird bug rn where it wont activate if youre already using primary
"RN" 😦
I was told knife really falls off
Waiting fo a mod to fix it 💔
knife is very good who told you that
It does the opposite of fall off
It doubles every single one of your procs
There is no falling off
commando has definitive bad loadouts (suppressive fire is a kind of bad skill and synergizes very poorly with knife) but no definitive best one
id say best is 1212 but it's really personal preference between that and 1111/1112
roll vs slide is entirely personal preference it doesn't really affect that much. imo slide is better if you use suppressive fire (normally it makes you slow for quite a while but slide lets you get around this) but roll is better otherwise
I think both secondaries and specials are good, but I would keep the roll. I dont think sacrificing the i-frames is worth it
Keep the roll no matter what, special is interchangeable, but do not change the secondary without changing the special
Exactlyy
I think ror returns might just be the greatest remake of all time
i use slide and it functions just fine
you can get away with slide just like how you can get away with roll
Slide is bugged rn so it’s not a great pick
all you do to avoid the bug is take your finger off of primary
Annoying sure
It by no means is ruining the move
Not even close
Just annoying to deal with youll get over it sooner rather than later
but the point of slide is that you should be able to attack while dodging
that’s the entire reason you pick it
you… can still do that
Lol
you just have to stop firing for a split second to use it
For it to activate
You can fire while sliding still
Thanks. I played with knife and shotgun. Knife does 50 percent more damage debuff so i thought with shotgun it be neat
I think the slide feel better though even though the cancel is annoying
That has the extra damage numbers
Also proc items
so using knife also doubles all of your procs
can artifact or origin give you more money or more items if you play with sacrifice?
anyone know what this does?
This is a mod for rorr.
Real
I haven't experienced that but in a while
Someone just uploaded the template mod for whatever reason
It doesn't do anything
finally a good mod
Real...
yes
It's sad that this has more downloads than a mod that let's you adjust enemy spawns
Idk, it's not my mod
-# ...then why would you reply to say that
I used commando with gloves, his skills help a lot
They might be expecting me to answer
How can i get rorr character sprites? And how can i make a playable character mod?
in the original risk of rain, why the heck do things that I do keep not showing up
as in I'll unlock an artifact or character and then when I go to character select it doesn't show as unlocked, at least not for a bit for some reason
is this a known problem???
I unlocked mercenary earlier, as in I killed providence and got the little pop up saying that I unlocked it, yet it is not unlocked -.-
Im not the most tech savvy, so i'm not sure how to extract sprites from the game but i do know theres an example character mod on thunderstore that you could work off of

For Sprites: #ror-wiki-discussion message
is there a reason why i cant unlock (what i assume is) artificier? im pretty sure i meet the requirements to get it as i have the steam achievement with the same description as the character unlock
Can somebody please help me
Is there a newer version i don't know about of ror2
because i'm on 1.3.7 for some reason when i'm supposed to be on 1.3.5
wrong channel this is for rorr
Been awhile since i got that but im pretty sure you can just hop off of one of those ladders
One of the walls you can walk through
Not the exact way to get it im pretty sure but this is what i mean
They like doing that
hidden ladders and walls you can walk through
What items should I unlock asap
just play the game and the important ones will come naturally
Oh ok
Hi, I wanna play with my friend. I figure couch coop doesn't exist. How hard is Lan coop to setup?
there's local coop
So I only need one copy and 2 controllers?
yeah should work
be aware that its not splitscreen, so you'll have to contend with one camera trying to follow both players
but yeah
It’s not that bad with one camera
Hi guys, does anyone have any tips for looping? I want to try it but I dont know whic characters are best for it or how to go about it
Try loader, his invincibility ability is pretty amazing during a loop
Awesome thank you
What if there wad an item that negated all damage permanently forever and every survivor had one st the beginning of each game
Oh also it would give a 100% chance of instakill, infinite piercing (and add a beam like heaven cracker) and extremely high fire speed
You're sounding dangerously similar to #ror2-feedback-and-ideas
Ror2 has already affected me
one quick question about loader, which of his 4th abilities is better
Alt spec because it gives him one of the highest primary DPS in the game
thank you 🙂 ill give it a shot
Its CD is 8.5 seconds
Gigantic amethyst is 8 sec
So you can nearly have perpetual rof buff
That’s his only alt ability that is definitely better. His alt primary sucks balls and his alt secondary is on par with default
thank you for all the tips, everyone here is so nice
I WILL GUT YOU LIKE A FISH
We are just better than ror2 chat in every way
loader is so boring with invincibility shield, divebomb ftw. Get a headstompers and your dps goes up so much
Oh, plus more mobility. Ceiling grapple to divebomb is awesome
1212 FTW
It's crazy how much better alt special is
Normal special still has its niche and isnt a bad move by any means alt special is just dumb
Fuck the meta all the real ones play bullet punch default special loader
Default Loader Special is goat for Artifact "puzzle" buttons.
I will never give up invincibility shield
I do like the idea of dive+head stomper tho
Dive is good
Both are good
Shield is a bit boring but either will get the job done
<@&559786374228738069> KILL
fluxdeadshot was banned.
Oof
What are huntresses best abilities
Try all of them out and see which one you like
All of her alts are good, really laser cyclone is probably the closest to an alt outclassing the default but the default is still good and pretty nice for taking care of flying enemies
<@&559786374228738069> might not be a 50$ steam card but it is 50$
jujermo was banned.
i wanted the steam card :((
Mine
should i get returns on pc if i already have ror2 and its dlcs on ps5 but want mods or not?
You should get returns anyway
as in should i get returns or ror2
probably ror2 if you can afford it
oh are you just talking about ror2 just for mods
probably rorr then
Returns has a modding scene as well. It's small but growing fast!
Any tips for getting the providence boss log?
Thought playing on Moonsoon/Rainstorm would increase the drop chance
difficulty doesn't affect it
oh you poor sod
<@&559786374228738069> $50
r2d21347 was banned.
:(
ooh my bad
<@&559786374228738069> again
_onoah_ was banned.
They adapted, now their links are "steamegifts"
how long has this been going on? (all the scam links)
Forever
when i played ror before, i saw like no scam links in this server
it was relatively clean
but now when i started playing again, i've already seen atleast 20 scam links
in less than 2 hours
how does one go about playing robomando effectively
Hit tp immediatley then run around looting all chests
Bout how youd expect
Not much thought process needed to annihilate everything with robomando
Little shit is petrichors doom
Crack open everything fo free hit any shrines with remaining money win game
the strat as robomando is to just not fight stuff
run around get chests kill the boss go to the next area
killing other stuff is time that could be spent getting chests
I think pierce is better but you can make do with the regular primary as long as you take laser cyclone. If not, huntress is awful with crowds
Why doesn't huntresses alt colors change her attack colors it just stays blue no matter what : (
I have a question im kinda new to the fandom whats risk of rain: returns
Remake of the first risk of rain game
I see is it just marketed as risk of rain or does it have the returns aswell?
ror returns has a separate steam page
Ah is it steam only?
Sadge but i didnt know it was on switch. Thank you for answering my questions.
🐱 👍
what if you unlocked logs after x amount of kills?
what if?
You do, just the amount of kills is random
and it just so happens to range from 1 to infinity
That’d be sick. I think some modders were trying to get that to happen for some characters a few months back. I dunno how far they’ve gotten or if they’ve already made mods for it, but not all of an attack’s effects are based on the sprite, so it’s a bit more involved.
any tips for returns? i find it a lot harder than ror2
loot during the teleporter event. There is no radius you need to stay inside and chests don't get locked when you start it, so often what I do when I see the teleporter is to hit it immediately and casually continue on my way
thanks
I got stuck in a wall on hive cluster, any suggestions for getting out?
Am I stuck?
Wall you can walk through
i know wound hits the enemy again for 50% of the original hit and also procs stuff, its not just an "enemy takes more damage debuff"
Commandos Wound triggers Extra hit that procs stuff so is Multiplicative with everything, others are seperate +% of hit done and don't interact with eachother making them Additive.
not true
they don't combine additively. they all combine multiplicatively
well maybe not all but most do
…meaning wound is essentially a double proc tag on an enemy?
No way right
DAMN
how did that get through as not op I mean his default m2 is really great but wow
Mixed with the 6 bullet shotgun, no wonder it does so much damage
Well answering my own question, it’s about fun so who cares
what's the difference between Universe and Dissonance?
universe?
it might be modded nvm
someone's in the wrong game chat lol
doesn't know about the returns artifact of universe mod
🐈
anyone know the variant 2 spot to get the legendary chest? been bouncing my head along the new variant for a hot minute
gap in the wall to the right of the chest
Basically, limited range and having to compete with FMJ arguably best skill in the game and succeeding in it
It is valid side grade trading long range AoE to short range mass murder proc machine
Also something about wounds proccing wound or something
what?
realistic bleeding
I recall knifing multiple times scaling wounds better than expexted might just be feverish delirium
it gives +50% wound damage each time but does not give extra procs
Knife debuff can stack?!
yes
all it does is increase the damage of the wound direct attack
but it is pretty damn potent
one backup mag and you suddenly can do a full damage extra proc
two and it's a 150% damage extra proc
etc etc
not exactly a returns question but is it still worth picking up ror 2013 for the base game? not including any mods justthe vanilla experience, ive already played plenty of returns but im considering picking it up since it goes really cheap
Not really
Modded ror1 is cool
Doesnt fix ror1 being ror1 but its cool
But in every way shape and form returns is better
But its cheap so up to you
me personally i really like base ror but it is objectively a less-good game than rorr. still great, but superseded
if you already have rorr then there's no point in getting ror unless you have another reason (looking to complete the series, desiring the original experience, etc.)
-# i also think that ror has a certain weird charm to it that rorr lacks but that's just me
vanilla ror1 has nothing to offer over rorr reallt
it has worse graphics, worse design, no original mechanics/content
do you guys think gearbox will ever care to port rorr to xbox/ps?
not really a gearbox thing
that'd be up to the devs as far as im aware
and the game is in an awkward situation where it can't get updates because the publisher is gone, among other complications
so don't hold your breath
i really like ror1 still
i play it still on consoles that dont have rorr, id still say its worth it
on pc the mods make it very worth it for me personally
especially with how cheap it is on sale
id say go for it, if nothing else its an interesting experience
-# also if you can, you should try modded. i know it wasnt part of the question, but theres a ton of talented modder folk :)
im well aware, i plan to get it on pc when mines fixed but in the meantime i wanted to play around in the only title i hadnt so far
i know about starstorm but is there any other mods of note? thats the only one i hear about
yea theres a ton of good ones
if it goes really cheap id pick it up, if not i wouldnt
tho im weird and i like to see how games change ¯_(ツ)_/¯
thanks for this , had no idea this site existed
what am i supposed to do against evolved lems as han-d
i keep dying on stage 4 because i cant get away from them </3
who would win, overloading bird or robot janitor with no movement items
Use blast drone movement tech
But just use specials
Hammer does a bit of a better job at taking down fliers than saw
Go comedically large aoe
You can also beat them to death whenever they land
i dont have blast drone unlocked ):
Has there been any word at all on the future of this game? There’s so much potential here, I’d had to see it wasted… the devs have so much love and passion for it
Yeah we are literally gonna get a patch for the three sots characters to polish them up
So far anything past that we can only speculate
This is risk of rain returns channel
something something when gearbox was sold off to taketwo gearbox publishing died along with it something something devs cant update the game something something theyve been trying to get contact with people but nothings been working so far something something
tldr as of now no we dont get any updates
(and even if they were to get permission to update the game again somehow it wouldnt be much atp)
so enjoy modding
The devs have been trying their hardest to get the attention of take two to no avail
Take Two L
Take Two Viruses from our EULA
not in my game! (I have yet to sign it)
Take Two considers modding to be a "bannable offense" in some of their games.
that's what their crappy new EULA says in their games
That's (one of the reasons) Borderlands is falling apart
That’s cringe
true ‼️
Makes sense for some games (mostly Online Multiplayer based) but honestly when has EULA stopped modding anyway.
Is FLAMBE a typo?
Oh
It is a typo, missing dat
É
yo can somebody help me unlock robomando? i don't have Pilot so i can't go up to the place where i need to place the equipment is
lobby is open
name is word
Do Drifter's temp items contribute to challenges like the one for Chef or are they seen as "different"?
Temp items count for unlocking stuff, as long as they are in the inventory at the same time aka haven't disappeared yet
I did unlock him with temp items now
How does Lepton Daisy work in Simalcrum, it feels like the heal is random
oml im so sorry wrong channel
If engineer’s turrets have Life Savings, would they get a damage boost from Golden Gun?
I’d say maybe, but the buff would likely be miniscule if so
gold gain items dont affect non-players at all iirc
Which yellow item should i opt for in commando’s judgement trial?
I’ve been getting ifrit’s horn because it’s proc-based and idk if the imp tentacle would aggro enemies (to my advantage) or not
im pretty sure enemies dont target the imp, so id go with ifrits horn
Alright ty
Does enemy level/difficulty scale with time in judgement?
Yes but unless you're doing the captains brooch robomando strat you shouldn't notice it that much
And even in that strat, you have a bunch of items they aint gonna be lasting long
aight thanks
horn on everyone
It’s that good? Alright
Yes it’s amazing
Shell piece is bugged so it's a worse geart, and tentacle isn't good
horn has massive crowd control and damage
it's like the perferators of this game
Does this game work fine on switch 👽 ive heard it can't come to xbox so that'd be the only platform i can play on
Why would'nt it be fine, the 3d version is really good on switch so the 2d pixel art is super good dw
Thnx, ive just not used my switch much so i have no idea
Don't worry
Heya I just unlocked loaders alt primary In rorr. But idk if it's just a skill issue or whatever but it seems reeeeeallly weak compared to loaders base primary. Is this just a skill issue on my part or is it genuinely bad?
yeah unfortunately bullet punch just isn't very good comparatively
Oof. Gtk .-.
Hey folks,
Game seems to be capped at 30fps after attempting to mod, even when I turn off the mods.
Any ideas?
Which has a higher dps, commando's double tap or pilot's rapid fire? (assuming all the shots hit)
oh nvm it's definitely rapid fire
yeah
Was playing a regular ol monsoon run and opened up a large chest to get a yellow item, is this normal?
Here ya go
any mods?
Yeah I wondered if it was some odd thing from returns as I'm coming from ror2 and such but I wiki checked there's nothing there abt this
Also not even a reddit article on it. :I
Rare bug that seems to not have been fixed on Switch
Ohhhhhhh oki ty
Is this like a sequel to the first game, remake of it, or it's its own thing? I've only started getting into ROR2 at the end of last year, and I've been wondering whether I should eventually check the first game or Returns first, once I feel like expanding.
remake of the first game
rorr is basically just ror1 but superior in nearly every way
I see.
Why is it not on Xbox
Easier to make it for switch, and now that gearbox publishing doesn’t exist and hopoo disbanded it’s not gonna happen ever
<@&559786374228738069> 50$ gift
Personally I'd say the only thing that could be not seen as direct upgrades is the redone visuals and, iirc the music has gotten some work too.
And really that's just a matter of taste, the old sprites and look does have its charm in simplicity.
guys after almost 150h in rorr i've only completed 66% and didn't unlock mercenary, am i too bad to 100% it?
Yes
Kidding of course
Maybe try lowering the difficulty a small bit so you get a better feel for the game
i like the difficulty of the game in general but some challenges are just too hard
What in particular is giving you trouble
Challenges like A dime a dozen, watery graves or any of the sniper's are too hard for me
Just takes a fair bit of practice and setup to do those
I always dedicated entire runs for each achievement
Can all the achievements be done in drizzle?
Unless the achievement specifies monsoon yes
Well aside from a very particular survivor but you dont have to worry about that
And i know it isn't the right channel for this but is it the same in ror2
ok ok
And also rorr's difficulty adjustments of taking and dealing damage
Everything is fair game and counts
Every achievement barring the ancient scepter one can be done in drizzle
And I guess robomando but he doesn't really count
I wanna get better at the game. Any advice?
In terms of dodging spacebar is your friend
That being said in terms of gamesense there's one thing you should always remember: Its fine to take time to do things
Don't listen to the peeps who say "Oh btw if you waste 2 minutes you die" Or stuff like that
Looting efficiently is king in 2 and its king in this game aswell
Okay perfect. I do try to make a mental map of a level and try to loot everything in an efficient order as I go. Sometimes leaving a shrine or two on level one if they rack up too high. Essentially though I just want to beat the game on normal and maybe hard eventually.
Don't forget that difficulty scales with time, also you will see some hefty increases in early power as you unlock more items through playing, along with getting better as a player.
Oh I've been playing for a while so I have quite a few items unlocked now. I've just been playing on easy most of that time.
To some degree higher difficulties aren't massively more difficult either, since more enemies means more gold means more items faster means more power faster.
I've noticed you get more and higher tier items earlier on higher difficulties too
Perception usually. There's fewer periods where nothing happens so it feels like the time between items or notable events is lower.
What does the Strange Battery do?

I was just looking it up and I'm wondering where is the Rift chest and where does it show up?
Stage 2 of your next run
Drizzle
Go to stage 5
Find strange batter
Go to stage 6
Find the funky chest doohickey
Go to menu
Up difficulty to rainstorm or monsoon doesnt matter
Find the funky chest on stage 2 of the run
Go to stage 4 once the timer hits 22:00 on stage 3
Find robomando then profit
I've got the chest so I guess what I need to do next is actually find him.
Is it? I swear I get more tier 2 items on normal rather than easy
you don't
Damn
I may hop in VC tonight
And give some runs a go. I've been busy with music related stuff.
Is there a way to swap round my two left end abilities as when playing as the Huntress I keep accidentally using my teleport since it is halfway between two of my main attacks?
Besides rebinding the keybinds for those, not really.
players are never affected by timestop
Any notable playstyle/mindset differences between returns and 2? I've only ever played 2 and am about to try out returns, is it still the same full loot as efficiently as possible?
you definitely want to loot much more efficently in returns than 2
you can loot during the teleporter as the tp has no radius
the playstyle ive been going through over my game time is scouting the stage, hit the chests further away from the tp, but leave the chests near the tp to be opened during the teleporter
youll get more efficent at it the more you play
map knowledge is infinitely more important here than it is in 2
youll also want to turn on hold primary and autojump in settings asap
the game forces you to make the most out of all items since theres no scrapping or printing
so something like bungus or decaying sample have a lot of value that will be hard to see at first
theres also a lot of movement tech throughout the game, some much more noticeable than others that will help you
generally 5 min a stage in this game is actually good advice i see newcomers on like 13 minutes just getting to damp cavers like might as well restart at that point
i definitely wouldnt follow a strict rule of thumb when playing the game and rather just slowly adapt
you dont really need to pace yourself
just get better at looting
just full loot on that timer and if you go over boo hoo
I might try it.
Why are enemies able to attack before they can be damaged? I keep having an enemy, mostly spitters, attack and kill me the moment they spawn before I can actually damage them.
what survivor are you playing
drill dash or drill charge on miner
Charge personally
Either work
Miner.
generally as melees you either go in quickly enough to stagger the enemy, or dodge its attack before closing in
spitters are annoying but their attack is fairly straightforward to see and jump over
How do you see it when they can fire it during their spawn animation causing it to not show the spitting animation? You literally can't see that they are doing the attack.
What I've been saying this whole time is it happened to me and I have no explanation why. I think it might be related to my hardware in some way shape or form.
If it happens again I'll try and get a recording.
ive never heard of that so i would definitely like to see it
Heya, so I’ve been having this issue with Returns that no matter what I try in terms of restarting my computer, changing the size of the screen messing with settings, reinstalling the game, and probably a few other things I’ve tried that I forgot I can’t seem to stop the game from having serious stalling issues where the game just moves in extremely sluggishly and lags out a whole bunch. If anyone knows how to fix the problem, please let me know how to fix it cause I really adore this game without the stalling issues!!
Is there no more updates coming for this game ? It's been a long time
No updates, which sucks because no further updates, but is also good in that it lets people go wild with modding in stuff.
As for the why, publishing rights, which include the avility to update, is kinda in a legal red tape limbo after the publishing arm of gearbox got dissolved.
At least that's as much as I recall of the details anyways, might be wrong in some points but overall, no more updates.
i just did a run and my god i feel like this is alot harder than ror2
am i going insane
i play on eclipse in ror2 but i died on rainstorm in rorr
Time matters much more but full looting the stage or nearly full looting still ends up being the best
Hit some chests before starting the tp and loot the rest while tp is active
ah right yeah forgot there wasn't a radius
although i tend to lose the teleporter because the maps are very confusing to traverse
Generally you wanna full loot and be getting out of there in around 5 minutes
But i wouldnt pace yourself and just focus on gradually getting better at looting
you can take longer if it means getting more items, and if necessary you can compensate by doing later stages quickly
i like that time has more of an effect
my strategy tends to rush stage 4 due to how oppressive they are
oh yeah and how the hell do i avoid toxic beast
Jump over their hitboxes with good timing or just use elevation
Their hitbox is the feet
ah right
a lot of enemies in this game only have hitboxes on the ground
if you can get a tile above beast it can't hit you
also they can't travel between platforms so of course that's useful
what does the white undershirt from boar beach do
i think it's just like 3 or 4 armor or something?
IIRC +3 armor
what item do i start with in the final prov trial with miner
If you're not confident then you could probably start with guardians heart instead of hit list
That being said: A tip for the first stage as miner I'd give you is to kill the non elite lemurians first before tackling the volatile ones
They'd make you level up and give you just enough damage to stagger them which does help quite a bit
i just run those off the map with my secondary
scorching shell piece, ifrits horn, or imp overlords tentacle?
Ifrits horn
Always take horn
Horn, shell piece is broken in vanilla and doesn't work.
Always valid, that.
Hey anybody that read Dune up until the end of the 2nd book? I played the original Risk of Rain 1 8 years ago ish and I recently finished Dune Messiah. As I was finishing the 2nd book I thought of how the character Paul reminded me of Providence. Using his prescience eye and being a ruler of an incredibly hostile planet with giant ridable worms. There are other minor similarities like giant moons and forcefield shields but I think those could have been an inspiration from any other media/series. Am I the only that sees these references? When I see inspirations from Lovecraft's work they're instantly visible to me, but I never thought the powerful enigmatic ruler was from an inspiration.
Also in the Dune series Paul is heralded as a hero (although Paul tries to fight this fate and what comes with it).
Seems more likely it's accidental similarities than actual references imo.
Providence also doesn't have prescience afaik, he can't see events that are about to happen though he does seem to have incredibly vast awareness of what is happening somehow.
- Switch is piss easy to port games over to, so it came first to save on manpower
- The game literally cannot be updated anymore how tf do you expect it to get ported over to other consoles when that was never even planned in the first place?
why can’t it be updated though 😔😔😔
The publishing branch of Gearbox that published this game no longer exists
The rights to the game have fallen to Take Two, and they don’t give a shit about this game
so the chance is zero?
Pretty much
Gameplay?
The gameplay is similar, but returns has so much QoL compared to 2013 that it is miles better
😔😔😔
can’t get survivor mods for ror2
Can’t play the survivors in their peak
PlayStation is worth it though
hey man if you can find a way to get TT to give a shit be my guest, but even then I doubt there would be a port of returns anytime soon
Thanks man
Iirc also the dissolution of gearbox publishing apparently didn't happen in a way that made the legal rights useable somehow.
They literally do not have the rights to update anymore.
Wait, can someone tell me why rorr isn't coming to console
game is in an unfortunate situation where the publisher is gone and it's therefore in a limbo of sorts
hello everyone, do I just suck or is RORR insane
Publisher gone, rights are in a sort of legal limbo regarding the company that absorbed them and due to being a small game they're low enough priority it's pointless to wait for the rights required for updating the game to be figured out.
Upside tho, mods.
Also, imo RORR is a bit more front-loaded with difficulty, if you can get through the initial bump well enough you can reach a point of everything dying much quicker than 2.
I cannot seem to get through the bump
You'll figure it out, it can take a bit of practice to get the vibe of how to play though generally with most things it's to constantly kite if you aren't able to plow through them.
This varies with character though, ranged ones like to kite while melee can get close in bursts or sustained fighting depending on what their kit or items allow for.
Getting some items unlocked helps a ton too.
The difficulty scaling is a little more unforgiving too iirc, full-looting if you're slow might not necessarily be worth it.
currently im trying to get my boy acrid
im struggling to make it to him
I might have to start using the 5 minute rule tbh
Makes more sense here than in 2, that.
At least for the first stage or two you want to be able to get as many items as you can in the shortest amount of time, if I recall my experience correctly, been a little bit since I played.
I also wanna get chef cuz I like him a lot in 2 but I think id do well to wait until I unlock Command
see i tried that but I can never seem to find more than 3 chests
Kinda just bad luck, that.
learning stage layouts will come with time and will help alot
You will have to simply guess which direction the portal is though, really.
Depending on character and their kit you have differing wiggleroom on how much time you can take, though generally imo you want more items than there are minutes on the clock, bosses tend to be relatively quicker to kill too a lot of the time, or at least a lot less of an issue, so don't be scared to hit the teleporter a little early perhaps.
Unlike 2, there's no teleporter zone and no interactions are restricted with stuff on the stage.
Don't be afraid to try different characters btw, you're bound to found one that clicks with you.
In a time sense yeah but that’s just cuz everything in this game is faster. I feel comfortable in ror2 by stage 4 whereas stage 6 in returns can still be trouble
wrong channel
hi could someone help me to figure something out? is there a way to beat the final boss mithrix and then do amother boss through a secret shortcut or something like in binding of issaac? ive heard something about a frog but some people say it doesnt work so idk is there some condition to unlock that frog?
You are asking in the wrong channel
And yes that is a thing, but you need to have the Survivors of the Void dlc to do it
Like the one guy said wrong channel and you need survivors of the void, after you kill Mythrix head back to where you spawned and pet the glass frog 10 times
judgement trials ifrits horn overlord tentacle or shell piece
Ifrits horn
I would say its character dependent but for every character just take horn
I'm able to host a public lobby despite having character mods
Is anyone able to see or join my lobby while those are enabled?
I can't tell if no one can see the lobby or if it doesn't work cause almost no one is playing 😭
And is anyone working on a dropinmultiplayer mod for returns?
the game will make sure players have the same asset list when connecting
generally public lobbies should not be relied up at all for mods
what does 'drown 20 Whorls' mean? does it mean push them off of the platforms on sunken tombs?
yeah
So in sunken tombs you normally will drop to the bottom of the water and get teleported back, for enemies that means death, and that's how you drown 20 Whorls
I think the easiest character for that unlock is HAN-D
Or CHEF
They have a lot of knockback
anyone know why in the log book some items are highlighted and some aren't i've never understood that
Like a glow around it?
ye
That just means you haven’t read it’s log
Why couldn't they just say "Push 20 Whorls Off The Edge" or smth because this entire time I've been wondering how to make a sea creature drown to death in a game where you can't drown
Well, I guess as creatures do die when they fall, it is drowning for them, so, it does make sense
is there any way that I can fix this problem where my game slows down at random intervals
I wonder why my ror2 runs better than rorr then
are you playing modded rorr
relatively new to returns, how lucky is it to get 2 reds from a chance shrinewithout it failing?
gg run over
easy win
It was on command since I was trying to get chef
☹️
Ah
remake
if I get returns is it worth to play 1 or
na
is returns not on playstation lol
not on any console platforms besides switch
So does the beating embryo have no effect on the repair kit?
It may make the boost drones get last twice as long, though I’m not sure
do 10 atg missiles mean 100% proc chance on hit?
a few more but yes
anyone elses account get wiped or just mine
They stack like ror2 teddy bears? Meaning each one is less effective? Was it like that in ror1?
I mean not as detrimental to stack but I didn’t think there would be a drop off
no atgs stack for +7% chance
their base chance is 10% but the stacking is +7%
ur thinking of critglasses lol
kills myself
im supposed to be the insane rorrhead how did i fail to remember this
mk 2 is 7%
that is right
The fact I immediately took your word proves this
however i am also a massive idiot with memory problems so i really wouldn't trust me
hey guys, so after pouring in about 200 hours into ror2 and unlocking practically everything there is, i decided to give ror returns a shot, and the one thing i'm currently struggling with like, a lot, is avoiding taking damage
how do you even do that given that it's a 2D game where really you can only go left or right, and shoot these two directions too
sometimes there's just so much bullshit on the screen where in ror2 i could just run around it thanks to the fact it's 3D, but in this game it sometimes feels basically impossible, especially during boss fight events when a million enemies spawn so i can't even begin to hit the boss cause there's just so much trash in the way, and i'm not fast enough to kite all that bullshit either, so if i've taken too much damage and have no real means of recovering health really quickly, it's like i'm done and there's nothing i can do by that point
tldr ror returns feels brutally difficult compared to ror2, and not in a good way, more like because it's 2D so it's so much more limiting for that
Jumping. I cannot stress this enough. Jumping is the best dodging mechanic in the game. Most attacks only hit the floor, so a well timed jump can dodge almost everything. Even some things that don’t look like they can be dodged. Magma worm bursting out of the ground? Jump. Ancient Wisp blasting the area with fire pillars? Jump. Parent about to smash your ass? Jump.
i've played for about 20 hours and settled on monsoon cause i figured i'd rather learn it the hard way
thing is, i don't remember struggling half as much when i first played ror 2 monsoon, it felt like a fair challenge, while here it feels like the game hates you and wants you to die in the most miserable way possible
oh yea i would defo not reccomend learning on monsoon
jumping to dodge has to be good advice, i'll definitely consider it, but still, when there's like a thousand enemy horde approaching your way with magma worm bursting out the floor and you're also supposed to be killing all of that at the same time, it just feels impossible to both shoot and avoid damage
the character feels slow as a turtle when shooting
its not impossible, just requires alot of experience
you can jump over the magma worm hurtbox completely btw :)
they are probs the easiest boss for that + explosive and piercing attacks just kill them
yeah i'm super happy when i get lucky with items like something that gives piercing damage or healing on attacking, but with the lack of scrappers and printers, i kinda hate how you can't really manage your build in any way, you either get lucky or you don't
most characters give you the tools to survive even if you cant thrive
tho you can get quite unlucky sometimes yea
trishops are nice tho
id defo recommend drizzle or rainstorm tho!
yeah idk playing a lower difficulty after i've played so much ror2 monsoon kinda feels embarrassing
like surely it can't be that bad
i have 700 hours playing monsoon/eclipse ror2 and my ass still gets kicked in monsoon rorr its alright lmao
trust me it is
ror2 monsoon is nothing compared to rorr monsoon
harder game alongside time scaling that matters significantly more
this game isn't afraid to beat your ass
so is the game just naturally that much harder?
going from ror2 to returns is hard because in ror2 time matters way less but if you take too long in returns the planet will obliterate you
you gotta readjust how you play
the game isn't too bad once you get the hang of basic dodging and planning, alongside learning stage layouts
but it is still alot more punishing of mostakes than ror2
esp cause of the no printer scrapper thing
yeah but it makes it a lot harder to "save" a bad run
so in this game, are you actually supposed to rush through the game as quickly as possible? cause in ror2 i know there used to be a lot of talk about a so called 5 minute rule and stuff, but in time people learned it was kinda bs and with a bunch of items you'd still outscale enemies by a long shot
not really the case in this game?
the 5 minute rule in ror2 is bs and in rorr yes the time matters much more
i see a lot of people rush teleporter then get whatever items they can with the money they get from that
rorr definitely wants you to be fast yes
around 5-7 minutes per stage is what i tend to shoot for
i tend to rush specifically stage 4 due to its cope potential
i usually try to take 3 minutes and by 5 minutes im trying my best to just gtfo
im about 7 mins per stage
damn that's bad news, cause navigation is also much harder in this game because it's 2D and you can't really look around to see if there's something worth going for over there, etc.
at least not in the same way you could in a 3D game
theres settings so you can zoom out and have a bigger view
that comes with experience, you tend to learn where loot is and isnt
and again learning stage layout
so do chests have like fixed spawning points in rorr? no random in that?
theres some spots they always spawn, but idk i just got a feel for it
there are certain spots in maps with fixed spawn points
they're mostly random
just like ror2
don't worry or think about fixed locations until you notice them yourself
like i just got this lucky with the teleporter spawn and i simply can't image taking on the boss on such a narrow platform where i'm supposed to both jump to dodge and attack, like it just seems like a freaking nightmare and nothing like what i've seen in ror2
i did ultimately manage to take it down, but the point is that every run feels like a cope run in this game after ror2, lol
so much ridiculous detouring i'm basically forced to do just to be able to squeeze in a couple of seconds of shooting at the boss, and then back to kiting a freaking horde for another couple of minutes
the game is harder yea
patience
Do cognition ghosts count as elites themselves? I’m pretty sure the macrobic jumpy ball I just killed was not elite, but then I killed the ghost and my clover proc’d and it dropped an item.
yeah they're elites
Cool thanks
Ok I know this might contradict what a lot of people have said
But don't overestimate time in this game
Full looting is still the preferred strat no matter which risk of rain game you play, mind you
Also once the teleporter is fully charged enemies no longer spawn
so is there still like a general rule of thumb as to how long you should take in this game or?
Which in some cases waiting for the teleporter to fully charge and then killing the boss is a much better strat (cremators notably)
like how in ror2 spending over 10 minutes per stage is proooobably too much
I don't typically have a rule of thumb for time in either of the games
The only rule that's slightly different is that sometimes I skip on chance shrines a lot more
As they ramp up MUCH faster than in 2
and it also seemed to me like the proc chance is much lower? or maybe i've been unlucky
You either proc items or you don't
Most skills proc items but most items don't with a handful of exceptions
I don't quite know if its lower
Will the game ever update?
most likely not
Does anyone know why my fps tanks every time I move my mouse
Drones share in their owner's invincibility?
yes
Are there any exceptions to this rule?
nope
Shield Generator?
they inherit shield generator immunity
ANYTHING that makes your hp bar show some variation of "INVINCIBLE" counts
May someone please add that to the wiki? (And update the shield generator page because it says otherwise)
Any other item interactions with drones?
I know about on kill effects but what about on hit effects?
drones never get your on-hit effects
but arms race does give drones a chance to fire mortars and missiles when they hit
So they inherit on kills and invincibility
yep
Iirc on-kill effects that buff you don't buff drones, just the player that owns them, so that's something to note as well.
drone kills are attributed to their owner yes
okay so following this, i've been playing a bit more tryna get better at the game, and so far i've only been successful with huntress, cause compared to other survivors it's relatively easy to kite with her cause she doesn't slow down when she shoots and also the alternative M2 is kinda insane for kiting too, especially if you get lucky with mags
but unfortunately i still cannot fathom kiting as any other class in this game. like if i pick commando for example, and i don't get extremely lucky with items, by stage 4 i just can't deal with hordes of enemies for the life of me, cause i can't both shoot and run, and when running i barely outrun enemies, so i can't even dare think to shoot cause then i'll get instantly overwhelmed and get a big chunk of my hp bit off
i did try to jump more and while, sure, it does help to avoid damage, it doesn't really help when there's like thousands of enemies during the boss event swarming all over and they obviously don't attack in unison so constantly jumping only helps avoid some attacks, but not all of them, so eventually my hp will drop to 0 even if i autojump 24/7. and to think that all this time i'm also supposed to be finding windows to deal damage
feels like an absolute ridiculous nightmare
or is commando just as bad as he is in ror2?
genuinely tryna have fun in this game, but so far it's felt like all i do is deal pitiful damage most runs trying to shoot through the cumulative hp of like one billion during boss events, and it's just not fun, rather tedious and boring
i do realize it must be skill issue, but i seriously didn't expect such a major difference in the core gameplay loop compared to ror2
Ya know you can shoot while in the air right? From what it sounds like you aren’t doing that. Also, in terms of other ways to dodge, you don’t need to focus on doing damage, instead, try to use your environment to your advantage. If a massive horde of enemies is following you try climbing a rope. Only a small number of enemies can climb. You can also use small ledges to prevent certain non-jumping enemies from getting to you.
Commando is ok in this game. He isn’t as mid as ror2 Mando is but he isn’t spectacular
when you're being chased down as commando try to only use your secondary, until you get to a safer spot for your other abilities. take advantage of roll's i-frames too
Jumping backwards and then shooting mid air removes the low speed you normally get when moving while firing. Works extra good with jetpacks and feathers. Keep chaining those together, along with (default) 2nd and (default) 4th abilities whenever it’s off cooldown and not many things should be able to get to you.
I haven’t bothered with auto jump but it kinda seems like a weird choice for this game, I always wanna be able to choose when I’m jumping not have it up to chance if I’m gonna dodge something.
Will returns ever come to console. Or will I have to purchase an entirely different device just to play an entry in the series
Am I just better off getting regular risk of rain
returns will likely never be on console platforms other than switch
Anyone know if returns works on switch 2?
it would do yea
auto jump is very useful in certain cases
Jumping backwards and then shooting mid air removes the low speed you normally get when moving while firing
do you mean i'm supposed to be holding A or D at all times as i jump and shoot, or do i just press and let go? cause in the former case, you do get slowed down if you jump backwards, though if you jump forward and shoot you indeed don't get slowed down, but it's irrelevant for the topic of kiting anyway
if you mean i press jump and let go while i'm shooting, it means i stop midair so i'm no longer moving so the enemies get to me just as quickly
auto jump just makes you repeatedly jump while holding space btw, its not like ledge detection
only definitive advantage for auto jump i can think of is han-d blast drone movement tech
it simplifies inputs
unlike minecraft lol
yah
yeah then there's just no difference unfortunately, you're just as slow during backwards jumping and firing
only works for jumping forward
Yes
i don't suppose so, a single shot as commando is a little more than nothing
just tried that, if you jump backward and hold the moving button and only take one shot, you instantly get stopped midair
so the slowdown is still there
Huh, my fault idk then
is there a skin for robomando
for judgement??

robomando will never be a real survivor.
you
Me?
i have a single question for this game, is it similar to dead cells in any way? because i love ror2 and metrovania kind of games, because i was thinking of getting it
it is not very similar to dead cells
from my outsider knowledge of the game anyways
i think it sorta starts and ends at them being sidescrolling roguelikes
good enough
i heard that dead cells has metroidvania elements (i don't know how true that is) but this game doesn't really have those
not really, but it peaks so hard it doesnt matter
Was it with huntress
It does. You get special runes that give you new abilities the more you play
its not really exploration based though the game just arbitrarily decides when you get them
lame
from what i gathered anyway, which, even if its not like that, i shouldnt think it is
the act of full looting a stage vs time in the reward doors are somewhat similar though so if that balance seems fun then yeah
it's exploration based. only certain locales have certain runes
ah. maybe i just kept going on dlc paths and was missing the core routes that give those mechanics
Has the scorching shell been fixed?
no
what doe the strange creature look like [im curious cause the wiki doesnt show it]
little weird cell guy
So has the items of the Cognation guardian been decoded?
isn't it on the wiki
Desecrated Golem has Barbed Wire, Panic Mines, and Medkit. Does not say the amount of each.
Stopped looking here after I was getting in a good run, but no it was with commando, I didn’t even unlock bandit before I beat the game in the same run
after about 70 hours into the game, i'm still tryna figure out the most optimal pacing to this game, can somebody tale a look and tell me if it's a normal amount of items to time spent ratio or did i possibly take too long?
the game is still extremely hard to play on monsoon, and the problem that i'm facing is that if i try to speedrun my way through it, i end up with so little items i just can't kill anything, the enemies simply outscale me insanely
if i do take my time and collect more items, it seems like the enemies still end up outscaling me and i still deal too little damage cause by the time i get to stage 4 i can no longer kill anything as fast as i could a couple stages ago
i know that at some point it's more about kiting enemies rather than clearing out the map, but shit like this feels downright ridiculous
i'm barely dealing any damage, a bunch of flying bulletsponge enemies spawn so fast i cannot possibly keep up, so at some point it's borderline impossible to kite even if all i do is jump 24/7 and occasionally press commando's second skill once it's off cooldown
there's still too much flying projectiles and whatnot that it makes it unrealistic to just run around and jump, and killing so many enemies would take forever anyway
so i guess my ultimate question is, is this the intended gameplay in rorr? like when late game you no longer deal adequate damage so you activate the portal and run around like an idiot cause you can't conventionally kill enemies anymore so you try to kill the boss as quickly as possible and then you proceed?
because it genuinely feels ridiculous after ror2 and i can't believe that this is how you're supposed to go about your monsoon runs
Speedrunning
so do items matter very little? in the grand scheme of things
like you are not supposed to outscale enemies with items, you should just get to providence as quickly as humanly possible cause that will yield as little enemy scaling as you can expect?
It is about finding a balance between looting and speeding
i only took about 6 minutes per stage there
was that not fast enough?
i was stage 4 approximately by 23 minute mark
and i believe the amount of items i had there was adequate to the pace
and i still dealt very little damage to anything by that point
i don't understand why this is happening
i've beaten the game on monsoon as huntress, but it feels like it was only because huntress is a goddamn kite machine
you can just hold m1 while kiting and see everything die eventually
and as commando i can only tickle enemies with my m2's sometimes, i can't just stop and shoot, not in late game
i'll get fucking obliterated in 2 seconds
so yeah i pretty much can't figure out what i'm supposed to do and why the optimal gameplay is so unintuitive
I believe your issue lies in the fact that you’re playing on monsoon. This game does not hold back, monsoon will kick your ass if you aren’t already very experienced with the gameplay flow, so if you are struggling to find a balance between looting and speed, take the difficulty down a peg.
