How good is this game compared to ror2?
Well if you are not comfortable with platforming nor RoR1, I don't recommend it
its good but its pretty different

A quick guide on how to unlock the Miner in Risk of Rain Returns
Edit: You must find and kill the mini-boss before activating the teleporter or he will not spawn.
There’s a file called main.trials and by editing that is how we make them
cant make a custom stage really but besides that pretty much everything is possible
could even recreate the main game and then go on to make custom game modes for the main game

Ifrit (Without artifact of dissonance) is tied for most rare teleporter boss to find since it is Stage Specific. I recommend looping with Artifact of Prestige and Dissonance to increase your chances of finding ifrit. and hitting every Mountain shrine you see
Cremator is Most rare since Dissonance doesn't allow cremators to other stages.

well it's complex innit? not sure how to tell without straight up telling what to do
should have just given him the in game hints decoded prob
||take it with you to risk of rain, and there go to the location under the map, you can get there through cabin (with that equipment chest), jump down at the edge of the map to the golem, then keep going left across the wall, there you'll find a container (might need some mobility items to get there) and place it there
once you finish that run start a new one on rainstorm or monsoon and on stage2 find a container which has that battery
take it with you
go to stage 3 and there leave the stage between 22:00 and 22:59 so make sure you finish the tp event in time
and on stage 4 you can find something new||

Also huntress warp dart is pretty good, and acrids alt puddle has its merits. stays out forever, so if you like melee spam you dont have to set it up as often, and can also use it to get back to teleporter instantly after looting

the only skill id call maybe outright better is commando's roll, you never really need to shoot while using your funny i-frame move
all of the others are generally more useful but maybe not directly outclass, like sniper backflip being generally better than his alt but the alt technically giving more vertical mobility
how do you get the Like New achievement for Han-D, does 60% health mean full bar or just health as opposed to shield? I thought i did it with shield hearts but it didn't give it to me

combat just means you're using attacks, finish a level so there's no enemies then sit and attack in shield mode for 5 minutes

Yes but it's far less effective, you can easily have artifact of kin and have an enemy that can't hit you in a corner of a spot and just sit there for 5 mins

Killing them has a chance to put you out of combat since you could accidentally kill the whole swarm attacking you and end up resetting your 5 min timer
which is why my way is 100% guaranteed when you're attacking the air

No items runs are suprisingly rough past stage 3 even for sniper, tho provi himself is relatively easy without items on sniper.
i found robomando not much trouble but yeah maybe sniper is harder
Mostly due to base secondary halving (or is it -60%) per pierce making boarlits really annoying to kill

How do i know if i got 100% crit chance?
Doing the math yourself really. Lens makers are 10% base and scale 7% linear from there on. The crit pennies are 3% base and scaling linear. Harvester scythe and Predatory Instincts are only 5% base increase, no scaling stacked. Wicked ring I think is wrong on wiki? It says it's 5% base and scales 10% afterwards though.. that's not what I remember in the games logs..
What I do in command is to just stack a good bit of Lens Makers to make sure I do have 100% lol
don't forget to assign yourself a role so you can post screenshots (screenshots are pog)

i think there are 12 fire ticks also
they overlap though so you cant really tell if you have multiple fire procs

Just figured out you can cheese the chef primary achievement (have 20 out at once) with no items by just getting the marble equipment place it at one end of the map go to the other then use buffed primary throw like 3 individuals then tp and they stay out until they reach you which gives enough time to buff and throw a second one
same with shattered mirror, it just throws a copy of the boosted attack

no, you need a beam drone
you can either find one laying around or combine 3 laser drones
If you have the ||robomando||, you can wake a bunch of drones up for free and just combine them together once the fusion machines start showing up.
you need to play as engineer to unlock the skill

its bugged right now its supposed to stun when u pulse and not when you dont, but it does the opposite. damage wise its fine, 450% per pulse and u can spam it a lot when hordes get big, but itll feel a lot better when fixed
how’s the miniature sun?
sun has a lot of skill variance, you either suck at it or know how to use it
think of it as a supplement to primary fire damage to start, and you can get more creative later
It's extremely strong and you have to use it from a safe spot and know what to you it -- but you're kinda SOL if an enemy spawns right on top of you
as your sole damage source it kinda falls off later, but you can just keep using it to destroy less mobile foes you don't wanna get near
i.e. spamming it against a stage 5 overloading lynx totem for 4 minutes (a valid strategy)
one tip i have for using it is hold primary fire while moving it if you don't wanna run off too far
its actually artis best scalimg damage option so if u get good on hits you can rely on it really heavily. chakrams scale horribly in comparison, and secondary is fine but has cds
that's true, it's moreso using it as a long range option slashes the uptime a lot

Arti in general, I want to love. It just feels kinda ehhh
when i use it with wall i find that during tele event the spawn rate often leaves me having to abandon the wall and with sun providing no safety its rough.

but on the other hand wall + sun works pretty well together offensively
u can use other abilities with tec surge sun its just harder/less common. i mean tec surge+sun is already two, for taller enemies you can throw chakrams standing on the plat while sun is below u, theoretically you could throw pulse spear first and pulse it as you set up plat, but i run nano until pulse gets fixed so idk

a hypothetical where you could hold yourself in the air and control sun while standing still
that was separate from the surge + sun stuff

you can kinda do that with hopoo since it prolongs the antigrav a ton and yeah it leaves you kinda just floating there moving sun only
might be able to pulse spear beforehand still maybe though thats a lot of mental lol
pulse spear is sorta inconsistent in general
even if it did stun on pulse id rather use nano bomb
its best when the crowds get big and u can just mash it on dense parts of hordes
I'm just a three or four achievements away from 100%-ing the game. I've played arti a lot. It's a lot of busy-work for roughly the same or less payout as the other classes, is how I feel. It's a shame because I want to love the "mage" class the most.

ive soured a bit on engi myself but maybe that's just me forcing myself to make laser turret work in multiplayer
(laser turret does not work in multiplayer, it needs you to have all the defensive items)
Meanwhile, you can just yeet yourself across the map and rain down death as pilot and it's almost effortless XD
tbh i might be finding myself preferring flamer these days, as wall+sun is meh to me and tec surge puts a lot of emphasis on sun. some cool setups with the right situation like i said but often times for me it really is just standing on the plat or floating in the air while sun does the work, and wall + flamer just feels more active in comparison

as broken as he probably is i still respect pilot's design because he's the frailest character and it definitely feels like they put thought into how his kit interacts with the game

ive thought this too, figured both pilot and drifter were in part designed to directly combat the things new people might struggle with. pilot can shoot diagonally which helps a ton with flying enemies, parachute makes kiting intuitive, drifters bag almost always staggers, she gets free items so you dont struggle as much if ur not good at looting yet

if you're playing acrid you never actually have to get close to the enemy to accomplish anything, smart usage of your utility and special can suffice
the reason i don't bother with RNG runs and use pick your item artifact, so many runs you just get useless items that don't fit your playstyle/character or limit your ability to engage certain enemies, like trying to deal with flying enemies when you have no double or triple jump is just a nightmare

i remember using the item drop chest that grants extra items as your equipment in judgement trial and getting stuff like piggy bank, increased movement speed when enabling teleporter when there is no god dam teleporter, the RNG is just pain in this game
Hi guys! How can I get more logs to unlock other variants? Some stages that I can't access other variants

you don't have to unlock logs to access variants
you go on a variant and you pick up the log there
but there is no way to control which variant of a stage you'll get, you're only able to deactivate new variants (that weren't in RoR1)
But also the rng is the spirit of the game
Every run is different, you have to adapt
of course, that's the point of roguelike genre, but the way the game is currently balanced, it's just not fun doing RNG runs for me personally
Yeah command is def great for just having some fun runs, like a bunch of heaven crackers on commando
I just like having the rng to keep me on my toes in the average run
i get destroyed in 99% of monssoon runs, yet can clear it at good success rates when i pick my items

Took the sceptre as my first item, and while the first two stages are really hard, after that I had near constant up time for three turrets
it made providence a joke, they really shouldn't have put time keepers secret in the last item pool lol
anyway to bind aim left and aim right as the same keys as move left and move right. Whenever I try to change the binds to changes the other key. I.E if I try to bind aim left D it changes move left to another key automatically
it didnt really have any reason to exist, they made default rope speed faster to compensate

@rotund trellis you should add a shoot left and shoot right key bind to your left and right arrow keys so you don’t need to use a mouse for mouse aim and have a control experience similar to the binding of Issac for players with that preference.
Wasd = move. left and right arrow keys = shoot left and right basically.
you can rebind them to the arrow keys on the control settings

The way i did it was command+ glass then played on drizzle i went the [redacted] character to save as much money as possible grinded to like 400 coins (turn other whites into like life savings) then hit tp kill boss jump around until tp is done drop bomb and kill like 20 enemies

they are hit or miss (usually miss) but cape and umbrella stops them from breaking
you pretty much have to anticipate the spawns

I'm not gonna declare myself the authority on ror returns so I am willing to accept I might just be the worst artificer player to ever live. So with that out of the way what's your general strategy with her? I specifically have trouble with her because most of her skills slow her down a ton, don't do much damage, are hard to hit with or have a small area of effectiveness, or take a really long time to cast (usually for a meh result). Her s1 kind of combines all of these for me, and I doubt I'd even be able to win a drizzle game with her without at least command
Well first, her kit (default and alt) mostly relies heavily on positioning

Okay take her default kit for example:
Charkams need you to position adequately away from enemies to deal the most damage
Nanobomb needs you to group enemies around for a good stun and damage
Frost Barrier is usually to accomplish those two above. Decent escape option too
Flamethrower allows you to move slowly while casting and if you float high enough, smaller enemies cannot hit you. You can cancel it midway by throwing a charkam to bail
Know when to commit and run is good too, charkams also do damage on their way back which allows for some hit-and-run

I find it kinda tricky using the right stick because even if I map all 4 abilities to the shoulder buttons, I still can't jump
I have a couple 8bitdo controllers that have back paddles so I can use a back paddle for jumping, but that means I'm limited to exclusively using an 8bitdo for this game
and I feel pushing in the right stick will be cumbersome/inaccurate
if youd rather, you could set the aim key binds to the triggers i think. i use kb only so im not 100% sure thats possible but id imagine it is. if sticking with right stick tho best i could say is sacrifice a shoulder button for jump and put special on a face button.
or maybe util on face, since for some characters that respects your move direction not aim direction
Right stick for aim and use "the claw" tho mostly not using aim since alteady pretty used to aiming with movement

technically drifter has more potential because she's the only survivor with +4 armor per level

hard to learn but i think shes fun. You need to learn to make good use of her ice wall, and jump before you use flamethrower
flamethrower can be cancelled with any abilities, m1 being the fastest, if youre in danger
put up ice wall, throw chakrams into it, once it breaks, jump and use flamethrower at the now frozen and slowed down enemies

Turned off Steam Cloud Saves, deleted C:\Users\myuser\Appdata\Roaming\Risk_of_Rain_Returns\<steamid>_localsave.json, but it comes back
