Miner and Merc are great, and alt primary Bandit is possibly the best melee in the game

Well, you have to go far into the right side usually, and there’ll be a small tunnel that you’ll walk through to fight a secret boss. An fire elite elder lemurian. Then you’ll get miner.

Tell them to disable cloud sync via right click on the game, then under properties. From there right click again, browse local files, find the options.ini and remove it from the folder, then try launching the game without cloud sync, should force back to default settings and create the new file

Afterwards you should be able to turn cloud sync back on, and have it sync to your local files, not the cloud files

To add to what vert said, attack skills, taking damage in any way including falling, and equipment that deals damage will all flag you as "in combat" the shield makes you not take the damage, so just getting shot won't work if it doesn't actually hurt you, assuming bungus works like it has in other titles, you could just get a bunch of those, kill everything but one Lemurian, turn the shield the wrong way and let it bite you for 5 minutes

pay attention to how some walls look because you can walk through some of them

This sounds bugged to me. The exact steps I took to get it were:
1.) Start a new game on monsoon with artifact of kin unlocked.
2.) Re-set till I got an enemy that couldn't hit through shield.
3.) Engage shield and stand against a wall.
4.) Come back to my computer 6 minutes later.
5.) die.
and I got the unlock.

If you roll green wisps and are feeling ballsy, they give a lot of XP if you're gamer enough to hopdodge for your life

If you plan on doing it without artifacts or damage modifiers:

• Miner's default primary is deceptively long-ranged. You can use it safely out of the range of sand crab and golem attacks to build up heat.
• His secondary gives you invincibility for a little bit after it ends, so while scorching you can chain together one swing from your primary and one use of your secondary to stay invincible forever, as long as there are enemies to get heat from.
  -His utility also makes him invincible, but not for as long as his secondary, and it locks you in place after you land, so be careful.

General non-character-specific tips:

• Prophet's cape is insane for this since it's basically like Safer Spaces from RoR2. If this drops from a chest or early stage boss, you have a lot more safety.
• Fireworks work well to kill enemies without you having to get close to them and risk taking damage. Also applies to ceremonial daggers, but those are much rarer and you can't find them on the stage 1 multi-shops.
• Setting your damage taken to 999% actually helps in this case, since it lets you see that you've taken damage much more clearly. It also will let you know what exactly you died to if it was a large crowd.

Remember that miner can be hit once for this challenge and still get the unlock. Commando can't be hit at all.

that activates the piece of equipment inside, for example, if it has the item that launches missiles when you activate it, when you pay it will launch missiles, but it won't give you the item itself
