The levels theme is addiction/overdose
Main Idea - The player feels very bored but suddenly spots a beverage, he gets addicted to it and cant stop consuming it. The level ends tragically where the players brain gets overstimulated and is no longer able to be conscious.
Secondary Ideas - The level should have two alternating themes: One is very much boring, grey and repetitive gamplay such as jumping over 2 spikes, the other would be colorful and very fun to play.. crave more? Drink the beverage.
The grey parts of the level will start to linger longer and longer, and the colorful one will start to become shorter and shorter. A focus on psychology would be implemented, with horror in the ending parts, since my idea is that the player overdoses and has hallucinations and seizures [and ofc I would put epilepsy warning at the start of the level]. Grey parts will portray sadness. Colorful will be joy.. basically a focus on 2 different emotions that cannot clash.
Tradeoffs - for now Id choose time and quality, and in the future Id pick quality and optimization once I get better at level creation.
