Building

This mechanic is based around picking up items (in this example furniture and more) and using them to build. You can also rotate everything, rotations will snap to the angle of slopes, this way making hitboxes for them won't be that hard and buggy.

The object that the player can pick up will have a slight outline when the player looks at it. It will help with the player knowing what object they're picking up.
The main purpose of this mechanic is making the player think about using the resources they have to build and reach places previously inaccessible.

This mechanic will be introduced in a simple way, there will be a wall that's too big to pass normally. The player will have to figure out the mechanic, the glow around objects that they can pick up will be used as a way of helping the player understand what's the solution.

There will be 2 restrictions of this mechanic:

  1. Ground stick, whenever you place / pick up an object, every other object connected to it will check if it someway connects to the ground, if an object connects to an object that connects to the ground, it will also be marked as touching the ground. If it no longer touches it, it will fall to the floor.
  2. "No object borders" these borders allow the player to go through, but allow no objects to go. This will allow for making puzzles with limited resources, without having to worry about the player finding building materials from a different part of the level.
