I've made tweaks to my mechanic using the questions given as a sort of checklist:
Does the mechanic behave consistently? - yeah, surprisingly it does, I didn't have to fix this part
Are there bugs with the mechanic? - oh, there were SO may bugs when I was making the mechanic, and even more bugs when I attempted to add a third color to switch between
Does the mechanic feel responsive? - one of the issues I mentioned in https://discord.com/channels/414295025883545600/1489752856746655906 is that there was latency to the clicks, which I fixed so now it plays great
Does the mechanic give the player good visual feedback? - while playing the level I felt that having only block outlines made it difficult to differentiate between active and inactive blocks, so I filled the active ones out
What changes might an average player want to see in your mechanic? - a player might want to see the mechanic be expanded upon - so I added a third color!!! Another thing they might want to see is the mechanic being used in interesting ways, so I showcased the option of choosing between multiple paths depending on how the player switches
this exercise lowkey felt more like triggers than gameplay, but I guess the two can go hand in hand
overall I'm happy with how it turned out, there's probably major improvements to be made in the gameplay department but I only really focused on the actual mechanic
