#How Can I Learn To Think Outside The Box To Create Unique Ideas?

I've started planning to create an xl heaven level and I can't figure out how to come up with new ideas that aren't done much before. It usually takes me 2 days just to come up with one idea that seems cool, some of my ideas are added on. I know that finding inspiration from other things and having a mindset to try things is a good way to increase your creativity but I feel like there's a strategy I could be missing that's stopping me from coming up with something unique. Any ideas on how to increase creativity or any lvl ideas would be appreciated.

You contrast a concept that you have

#

It would help to do a bit of research on the theme

#

And then come up with contrasting ideas to incorporate

I kept searching up "heaven" for images and just looking at objects in my room which doesnt do much

Like if you have a heaven theme, you could add in fires or rain clouds

Basically you want to take inspiration from real life or other games, especially for decoration

Also here are some ideas:

Usage of shader trigger so shaders apply to only one layer

Different enter triggers for different objects and dont enter and dont fade for other objects

Custom gamemode with spider orb

Memory gameplay using the notouch option

Also there are at least 50 different creative ways to use random trigger and advanced random

To add to what sky and falkonn are saying, I'd like to share something that's kinda ironic when it comes to divergent thinking:

There's no such thing as a unique idea

What people perceive is unique is merely taking upon existing ideas (research and inspiration), and putting in your own different spin/interpretation on things. #1083453897848393799 message (Personally, the SCAMPER method helps me practice making wackier ideas)

Besides, even if your idea is not unique, how you execute that idea is also something to take note as well:

  • Maybe use a gravity trigger for more floaty gameplay
  • angelic wing motifs to show the player ascending to heaven.
  • To add falkonn's ideas, maybe the player goes to heaven when they died on Saturn. What would that look like? Let your curiosity guide you.

Studying your themes of heaven and the editor go hand in hand.
