I feel like early Deku doesn’t really have much that makes him stand out as interesting or relatable beyond the fact that he was bullied and emotional for not having a quirk. But even that part of his character only lasts for a short while. After that, he’s suddenly given the strongest quirk in the entire world by his number one idol who also becomes his mentor and immediately gets accepted into the top hero school in Japan within few episodes. It makes his struggles feel less about personal growth and more about external advantages handed to him.

Natasha from Kindergarten Wars :) her arc was quite short, but I still managed to grow much more attached to her. She’s got a not-so-uncommon backstory, sure (essentially raised along the wrong path), but I like when we get to see her moment of realization and reflection and stuff at the end of her arc
