(A hoard of monsters come out)
Me, the dm: "this is the final battle, everything you worked for all leads to this"
Players: alright i go to the first monster and attack him
Me: (loved npc name) takes 10 points of damage
Player: no I said the monster?
Me: i understood what you said, he is a monster, and yet you trusted him, this was all apart of the plan, who do you think summoned them? Now THIS is the final boss
(All the monsters disappear, only leaving the main villian)

My villian wouldn't have to reveal themselves because the main character would've stumbled across all the clues. By the time they would've put the pieces together, it would've been too late because the villian would either be doing their grand finale or they would've escaped into the shadows without a trace. As the main character would try to track them down, they wouldn't be able to find anything because the villian covered their tracks so well.

Okay so, I'm my own little story I'm writing, it's like the twist where the villain is actually my MC's like bsf. (A little basic but yk) And they take off their mask and they flash a smile, revealing my MC's, bsf's golden canine grillz before laughing, saying something that only the bsf and my MC would know such as, "you really think you could defeat me? Oh you're just such a cutie. Did you really belive that your little 'full proof plan' air quotes would work? Just know that giving me those test answers in Professor Benedicts class was the worse decision you could've ever made"
In the backstory my MC gave their now villain/bsf test answers really long time ago in a college class is what made them to be life long friends/enemies

The villain in my tale is clearly a villain of sorts, but the male MC is blind sighted by both duty and loyalty so he doesn't particularly question her. However, as the female MC questions the villains actions he begins to slowly connect the dots. Certain quotes, actions, phrases, memories, ect. The truth point is when the two accidentally find her hidden plans and everything connects itself. Or, well, that's what I plan to happen. It might change.
