His "family" are in traumatized ruins and will always be haunted and psychologically messed up. And that's only the tip of the iceberg. You CANNOT stand by and say, "but he's trying". That's not enough, that will never be enough, nothing ever will be, he destroyed five people to worse than death. You don't talk about a serial killer saying "oh but they're trying to do better" just NO. You can't undo that stuff. You can't apologize, fix it, make it better, have forgiveness, it doesn't work like that.
