It was great and then season 4 happened and the show tried real hard to sell the idea that Star and Marco loved each other romantically but literally failed at every possible attempt.

Marco as a character sucks and the show cannot balance its side characters to save its life. Gravity Falls walked so that show could fall flat on its face 2 yards from the end goal
