A sandwich consists of TWO SEPARATE slices of white bread, and the typical greens, cheese and processed meat.

The number of bread pieces used in each are varied, hence why a hotdog is not a sandwich.

There are a lot of different kinds of sandwiches though, you can make a sandwich with any bread. Burgers are sandwiches by definition and they use the same type of bread as hotdogs just in a different shape
