people keep wanting genshin to turn into this dark and gritty game only to be hit by the friendship and fun beam each year and its rlly funny to watch but also somewhat grating

true...

there are dark aspects to the story but as a whole it's not meant to be considered dark

it's also annoying me how often people complain about power of friendship or expect the traveler to be able to completely hold their own all the time

some enemies cannot be dealt with alone and that's what the story has always been revolving about from the start

if you want real dark and despairing details, we've got the side quests right there too...

well they are able to use multiple elements at the same time so u would expect them to be at least hold up on their own to a certain degree

the traveler can use multiple elements effectively, but that doesn't mean it'll always translate into victory; that's not me saying they can't win their own battles or hold their own, they can - but not all threats are equal

You can have a culmination of allies coming to your aid without it falling under power of friendship

Those two things are not mutually exclusive

it gets really messy when those two elements get confused

For example the end of Liyue was very power of friendship whereas Fontaine surviving the flood was only possible due to everyone's direct involvement independent of what the player was doing

Natlan and nod krai then combine both those aspects in varying degrees of effectiveness

What could have been better with natlan was basically perfected in nod krai imo

I haven't done Nod Krai yet and I've completely erased Natlan from my memory after the """war""" arc
