tl;dr song of welkin moon starts after 5.8
alot of welkin moon stuff were already related to past regions (liyue, enkanomiya etc.)
dev had difficulty on how to introduced nod-krai and they found out that is Varka from monstadt
alot of factions is going to have a clash between each others to obtain the moon power
nod-krai is located at the edge of teyvat and also the first area corroded by abyss after the catatrosphe of khaen'riah
the lightkeepers are the one responsible on fighting the wild hunt (like rifthounds) and were told its lore in the 5.5 artifact
a lot of artistic were based on real life
alot of games mentioned (the witcher 3 wild hunt, world of warcraft, horizon, xenoblade chronicles, final fantasy)
many players thought teyvat is 15th century but after showing several regions there were a lot of advanced technologies
dev went to Tokyo to attend Playstation's 30 year anniversary and met square enix, from software about alot of stuff how to start a video game, design etc.
there are still many things that the dev can do
they just started adding characters on regions because previously player's device wasn't had much performance back then but now its better they decided to do it
before the song of welkin moon, they will experiment with over scaled main soryline to shoulder the bulk of character development and will do a subtle approache on the story quest and hangout event

I honestly will even say, no gacha game competes with Hoyo's writing and story. Hoyo makes it so their games are story and lore based, they arent just gacha game with story. They are story games with gacha.

Yeah the storytelling etc could improve but on certain things like Genshin's model quality, HSR's lack of character animations in dialogues etc aren't really on the team if they aren't given enough resources or schedule to deliver it. HSR currently delivers up to like 8 hours of story content every 9 weeks, that is not an easy job especially if Hoyo is refusing to give HSR more developers and resources.

This stream just had confirmed the feeling I had. While it may not be a Genshin "relaunch" it feels they're trying to do something completely different from the cycle we've gotten used to these past years, something new and refreshing. Maybe it's what the game truly needs.

Nod Krai is a really smart way to fix Genshin's storytelling, showing lore that is major that havent been in the main content but only world quests etc, fix the pacing and pick it up before we head to our final major region. Because Natlan introduced us to so many new Abyss concepts and now we were about to head for our last region but we still had so much shit left untold in Teyvat like all these factions etc. as they mentioned in the dev stream, Genshin couldnt present Teyvat in its fully because they messed up the pacing and all.
