number 6 is, objectively, a victim of trauma, as are all individuals used by AFO, ranging from the nomu to tomura himself.
his trauma comes from his existence, where he has specifically been raised into believing he isn’t anybody until he steals o’clock’s identity, despite the fact that we know 6 has his own personality and character. he steals appearances, not personality traits.
ultimately, the hallucination of o’clock is absolutely a result of the trauma he’s suffered, both from his creators and iwao rejecting him. he was so delusional that he created a version of his hero who would love and support him, which is something common among mentally ill people.
unlike other villains, save for the likes of dabi, he’s extremely emotionally driven and doesn’t seem to care about achieving actual villain things. his goal is to get the one thing he wants, and he’ll go to any extent for it. he’s aware by now that he isn’t going to get it, and that’s why he’s recklessly ignoring his self conscious, in the form of the o’clock hallucination, to pursue koichi.
koichi has everything number 6 wants. hes iwao’s successor. he’s close with kazuho. he’s a recognized hero. he’s somebody who has many people supporting and loving him, while 6 has nothing.
so 6, as a result of trauma, has ultimately sabotaged every opportunity he’s had in his life to get what he wants because he is so focused on his goals that he’s incapable of stopping and thinking how to act intelligently.

If Koichi wanted to be the No. 1 hero, I'd say yes. He should be among the top heroes by now.
