literally had 50 lives before getting to world 2 and you can buy lives hella easy in this game which made the game a cakewalk, plus theres the bar you can fill in the top left when you have diddy, dixie or cranky that can give you extra lives, instantly killing all enemies on screen
there is a one-hit hard mode tho but dunno if in willing to go through the game again on hard

I think it’s mostly long range combat and baiting out attacks and then whacking their back, then backing off + repeat.
Cause all those snake heads cover everywhere around them if you close quarters iirc
