Yeah might be a combo of factors. Bloodborne pushes on the fact that you have to be aggressive while Dark Souls punishes you for being the aggressive you need to be in Bloodborne. So it might be the combo of controller + overall playstyle difference.

The only awkward thing is that in terms of mitigating damage there only appears to be 1 universal button for it. Might be Skills that evade later, but like most characters dodge and 1 character blocks. And they’re the same button
So like, you can’t both dodge and block. It’s either or
Another thing about combat that people may find annoying is that it’s encounter based. So you have an overworld with the monsters, but to engage in battle you have to walk into them and then it loads you into the combat zone.

You also have a separate heal gauge. So a gauge only dedicated to healing/revival skills.
The one thing people may get annoyed with is that the gauge is only replenished with resting. Resting, however, isn’t as fast as say Dark Souls where you sit at the bonfire wait a few seconds, and then leave. With resting you gotta sit at the campfire, load in to a second person view of your characters, choose rest, decide whether you want to eat or not, and then you do the loading for resting.
However, you can also choose to just eat in field after a battle to heal HP instead of resting so there’s that.
So I’d say there’s a lotta options, but if you like playing in a specific way those options just might be a hindrance to you.
