The yakuza formula is typically Kiryu unintentionally getting wrapped into things. And the stories generally evolve into a 'who dun it' plot with kiryu getting info dumped after putting belt to ass. So its pretty refreshing to have Yagami be his own driving force in the story. Like this detective stuff is a perfect fit.
