P4G and P3F actually make the original versions uneeded to play. All expansions in persona are arguably unneeded, but Golden and Fes changed are indisputably better than the original experience. Where as Royal, it’s kinda just there, whether you play 5 or 5R, what you need to know about the story doesn’t change, which yes same could be said about G and F, but the issue comes with scramble, a sequel to P5 does not follow up from Royal at all, “they were on development at the same time” blah blah yeah that doesn’t change the issue. Kasumi and Maruki don’t feel like an expansion to 5’s story, rather a fan art of someone’s oc inserted into the story, like a patch work. It adding a new semester isn’t that much of a leverage from the added month to golden either. Whether you play 5 or Royal doesn’t matter, which is why I do not think Royal is a better expansion than Golden. Fes can be debatable

Whether you play 5 or Royal matters very much actually what 😭 I guess it is subjective whetever you like P5R story more or original P5 more but I finished both multiple times back to back and they feel like completely diffirent games. Meanwhile P4 vs P4G still feel basically the same game but P4G has the Marie storyline added and some improvements. Again, this is subjective but for myself I HATED Marie even if I was still loving the storyline in general. P3FES I am very biased so I cant speak on that I love P3 in general.

Persona games are notoriously long, so the mere existence of a refresh needs to be warranted. I don’t want to be wasting my time on a game that takes 90 hours to complete. Royal didn’t change enough for me to enjoy going through what felt like a re run of a tv show. Especially with the existence of scramble, I like Kasumi/Sumire. she’s my favourite design, but I found her story so predictable and controlled sad rather than naturally sad. || I didn’t predict the twin thing but like I knew her backstory was going to be very predictable soap opera sad stuff ||
