honestly I get the whole ||maruki's perspective being skewed/not seeing other side, but tbf that's the whole intention with that kind of storyline and it's done on purpose through the understanding of his own pain; he believed giving away people's right to choose to give them what they wanted instead would heal them. When you believe something so wholeheartedly, it's really hard to break out of that mindset until that sense brings you back to rock bottom.||

||Plus he was doing this out of thinking his own struggle and pain didn't matter, but everyone else shouldn't have to go through it either; he was trying to be selfless, without realising how selfish he was actually being. He needed someone to make him realise that he could move on and pursue something else, instead of feeling the need to help everyone - when that in itself is impossible.||

The whole reason they break out so easily is because they're persona users and have a rebellious spirit. I think they coulddddd've had something more like A). Have the thieves initially refuse to work with Akechi because they don't trust him. Or B). Have several members of the phantom thieves wish to accept his reality and take accept his proposal. Even though they're persona users, they not without flaws. I think the idea of a trio would've been sick though, especially since they both have showtimes with joker. They could've had like... a trio showtime||

Thank you for clarifying || why they broke out so easily because honestly I was super bothered that it didn't feel all that difficult for them 😭 Reading this is making me so sad cause either one of your ideas would have made the story feel much more dynamic. For me, the reason why having the thieves realize and all work together again bothered me is because they ALWAYS work together, they never fight (besides that goofy morgana plotline that really only existed because of a lack of communication) so getting to have something drive a wedge between them, even for a little longer would have been refreshing. Conflict within the group would have been so interesting, and presenting two prime opportunities to write it in and not doing anything with it is a bit of a let down looking back at the experience||

||I've thought a lot about how the story lacks any kind of (interesting) plot between the phantom thieves. Like, for example, after Haru's dad was killed, she could've been upset and lashed out at the phantom thieves and losing trust in them (because they didn't know each other that well yet) instead of just being okay with everything. Having a usually kind and caring character exhibit a moment of weakness/anger would be at least interesting. There are a lot of moments like this throughout the story that are way too oversimplified which leads them to feel superficial. Not to say I don't love P5, but they could've gone a slightly different direction with the writing. Like, they can clearly write a good character, Akechi is by far the best written.||

|| The Haru arc as a whole feels incredibly rushed, but it was super unbelievable imo to have her be so chill when her dad died ? She didn't seem to understand the metaverse at that point so I would have expected her to assume the thieves intended to kill her dad and were tricking her the whole time into thinking it would be alright/ she would at least harboring a bit of resentment towards them since she had no idea it was a third party who messed it up at that point. Don't mind the game being positive but sometimes the characters go along with too much 😔 ||
