2’s is basically 3’s without the Passive CD Kevesi troops have and are only the ones Agnians have, which is recharged by auto-attack.
The problem with 2 is that it isn’t as straight forward. They legit put a gacha system for 2, which is legit my largest negative for XC2. People will say it adds variety, but legit it’s so bad if you need a specific blade because, again, it’s “random” what blade you get. It also makes it super infuriating to make optimal teams since sometimes you DO want common blades, but ones with specific skills.
Which is why I rank it 1 < 2 < 3
3 fixed what XC2 did because you don’t have RNG determining what arts/skills you have.
However I do still like XC2’s combat menu over XC1’s “deck” menu.

The QTE’s show up for Blade Specials in combat, so they aren’t usually spammed too much

There are however certain blades that do change the moves, despite being coded as a specific weapon. And of course if it’s a “rare”/story blade then the blade specials are all unique.
Yeah, gameplay-wise I do prefer XC2’s over XC1’s. Progression-wise, XC1 is more fair since it doesn’t require you to y’know pull a slot machine for a different weapon.

You only get a limited amount through the story, and only get an unlimited amount because you can buy them in NG+

Yeah. XC1 kept like all the targeting stuff on the screen, kept track of way too many buffs and debuffs, and had the skills in the middle of the screen.
XC2’s just keeps track of less, but makes them bigger because of it.
