To be fair, I am absolutely dogwater at explaining so bear with me
Base Colours:

• so basically I divide the hair into 3-4 layers which go from light to dark, aswell as desaturated to saturated
  —> furthest at the front (bangs) to furthest away from the viewer (ponytail)
  CR: Lullaby taught me this

Lines that should be kept:

• Use your sketch/lineart to determine the most important lines in your sketch
  —> the ones indicated crossing of important layers, hairlines, hair splits etc
• use these lines expecially to create a volume effect by curving them, and flowing with the hair shape (I think its more or a try and error process)

Lighting and additional shadows:

• I wouldn’t say they are too important and more or a personal choice
• additional shadows are normally just the same colour of the previous lines but in less opacity
• place them especially where two or more lines meet or you have your main layers meeting
  —> I like using a U-shape that curves with the lines so it brings out the wished volume
• highlighting in a neutral lighting idea or if the light is coming from the top
  —> personally I would place highlights only at the middle-to-top part so in more of a halo style

Again, just basics and how I would do it
Cyan Arrow = Highlight colour picking
Red Arrow = Shading / Shadow picking (Or you set your layer to multiple and play around with the opacity)

Also try not using small lines, and instead go for big shadows and lines if you seperate the layers

are you planning on making a design with it? if so i’d recommend drawing it directly on the body template

regardless, love the shape of the eye ! the picture is a bit “pixely” so can’t see details that clearly but these are some things i would adjust:

• make the highlights in the eye slightly more visible since u can barely see them when zooming out
• maybe add some shadows under/above the eyes but those are optional to make it more dynamic
• change the two little dots under the pupil / either make them more visible or connect them to the eyeliner
• also imo the lashes look a bit spiky

Hullo! I love the idea of your outfit!💜 However blurry brushes, airbrushes like in the shirt and necklace are not allowed as well as outlines (if thats not sketch lines) you should also use thicker lines for stuff like eyes, mouth, necklace because the outfit will be small in game, and its not that visible zoomed out. I hope i could help a bit TT
You should check out the pinned messages for tutorials, guidelines etc...

I also advise you to look at items in game or submitted in #design-vote to give you an idea of how certain items have to be (thats what i do)

like people said above already, blurry blushes, gradient, outlines and too thin lines are not allowed, also it seems like you modified the arms of the body template? we can't do that either, I sketched out a few things like eyes should be a bit lower, same with the hairline, and I would suggest making the hair flow a bit more naturally, also making the mouth just a tad bigger but the concept is gorgeous so is the colour palette, keep up the good work!

to mimic a gradient like effect you can layer low opacity shapes or go from a light colour to a dark one etc

it's really nice but for the game style you need to do thicker sturdier lines and not too thin lines, generally speaking, if it is not well visible zoomed out to 250% of your canvas, it is most likely too small/thin
try thinking more in shapes rather than lines, I could sketch out what I mean if you'd like :)

just pick any image off pinterest or google, blur it and place your designs on it male + female version and then add a white translucent outline, I personally do the outline in ibis paint as it is the easiest, then just submit it via the google form in the pinned messages of #battle-pass-49-outfit-ideas and what the background image is doesn't matter tho usually people pick an image that fits the theme of the design

same goes for designs for #design-vote does not matter if the image is license free or not as once the design gets in game kem picks a license free image for the promotional display

hey, to start I suggest you look into the pinned messages of this channel, it's better to get a general idea of the rules so you don't end up doing a lot of work for something that is not allowed

than import the base in your drawing app, with a canva of (at least imo) 3000×2000

I suggest you give it some space above and on the sides, so you will be able to make the background more easily

It depends on what ur planning to do, some people start with hair, some start with eyes etc.

• shoulda start with coming up with an idea, then find some references => sketch it then adjust the sketch if u want
• picking a color palette is also important, try to avoid too bright colors and colors that look kind of similar to stand next to each other (yellow-green for example). Also I suggest picking 3+ base colors for the palette
• ((this is just what I usually do and idk how to explain this part so nvm this 🥲)) draw without lineart, just use a bigger brush stroke (with the color u will be using) forming the shape of hair or clothes or eyes etc.
• or do linearts first, it helps to guide u better, but try not to be depended on the bucket tool, it always leave tiny uncolored details everywhere and its kind of annoying when that happens
• abt the eyes pupil, try to make it not too plain nor too detailed, too detailed might confuse voters and minimods+ when they give fbs, giving the eyes that one white dot is a cherry on top:D but its alright if u dont put it, based on how u want the ava to be (bloodcold or some villain who lost eye sparkle maybe )
• facial expression is important too, u can find some tutorials online to express it well
• would be a good idea to add some dynamic details like (if the theme is candy would ask some holidays details like from halloween, xmas etc.) or maybe animals that would fit the outfit like a bunny if the outfit is some warm puffy clothes, or simply just be sparkles ✨
• u can make stuff look symmetrical or not it’s up to u, is just that making it symmetrical might be easier to color
• shading part, well for me I don’t shade with black, I choose some darker and uh idk how to explain this part so here’s a photo:D oof

• when make bgs, shoulda try to make it related to the avatar, it could have some details that the avatar dont have, that makes the bg looks more exotic

• shade mentioned so now to the light part thingy, I personally don’t pick white but a lighter (closely a pastel color) of the base color,

I think the idea is great and the design is so far good:D
but personally I think u should choose more color for the palette, two colors males the design looks uh plain and dull, shouldamake the hair top lower(?) and the long hair part more wavy, eye pupil smaller and curlier eyelashes ✨ give the hair more streaks with the color on the one side of the hair, blue line is what I think the hair on the shoulder should be cuz its looking kind of weirdx), the lip i think looks good but not really expressing an emotion shoulda make it curve up a bit more if smiling (idk how to make lips like this sorry 😭😭) last but not least, the design is gud only need some improvements

Try low transparency eyeshadow instead of solid one, maybe shade under the eye :>, I would make the shading of the hands darker, it’s not very visible. You used gold for the earrings/necklace and blue for the eye, colours that only appear oncein the entire outfit. Try to let colours at least appear twice in big blobs:). also the necklace (and earrings) are not entirely visible, the concept is nice, but ig no one would be able to see the :D. I love the snake on the head Ngl, maybe flip the two floating hands and out the snake there on top? Btw don’t be shy, they look gorgeous so feel free to make the hands bigger :D, a lot bigger, I would feel wrong at start but it’s just because your used to small size hands.

Gorgeous:D! make snake on head bigger :D! (Also I would add more events to the fg, try to aim for the entire screen), there are also f.e. Web users who will need bigger fg. For display, use a 1:2 canvas (like 2000x4000 or smth.)

Also maybe set the eyes (3-7 pix) lower, but you have to test out yourself :).

If you would like to keep the odd-eyes concept, you could maybe make a eye golden? (I just thought the idea was good!)

For example this display

The skin base is only 1/2 high of the whole canvas while the hat is bigger to add volume

In the end, the background (foreground for you) is much higher and wider than the base, u mustn’t make it that big, but it gives the voter the feeling that you did „alot“

Good and bad display is very very important to catch the voters eye.

Normal voters wouldent spend time like liz to analyse every single outfit, they vote in 5-15 sek,so that what really counts are the palette/bg or fg/ eyes /didplay. no one is going to zoom into the shading of a lip or such (only the mmods will for the feedback). So you have to specify it for ppl who wil only throw a single glance on it.

tbh I never tried drawing on a very tiny canvas, new challenge discovered???

you have to keep in mind display in game is tiny, so the contrast between colours, especially in shading, should be just a bit bigger, for example when zoomed around the size it would be in game (desktop version) the shading is not really as evident anymore
I also find the hands to be a little too big, they just look a bit off in sizing compared to the rest of the design, so I would make the hands a bit smaller and exaggerate the shading
the size and spacing of the hands also adds a ton of negative space which makes the design feel just a tad unbalanced, so adjusting spacing and size or filling the negative space with gold chain or pearl details could make it feel more balanced
Now just a personal preference, the bottom feels very red heavy and the top very pink heavy, so making the hat snake red or making the lips pink and eyes red could make it feel more evened out
But honestly, I am astonished, the design is super cute and I love your artstyle, keep up the great work!

Otherwise I would say it's actually crazy good for my touch I like to make some little stars or kinda shine on some aspect on golden stuff. But that smth you can do but don't have to

im not a designer so im not going to give specific advice but id suggest going thru some of the pins on this channel & looking at the designs in the upcoming clothing channel, that helped me a lottttt to figure out what gets approved and more of what styles voters are looking for ❤️ it is really cute, good luck!

However airbrushes are not allowed, and i would say there are some details that are too small, the outfits look tiny on the screen so they will be lost, so i reccoment thicker lines^^
If you wanna get some more advice on the wov outfit format, i suggest you look at the pinned messages theres a lot of useful methods there
