Perhaps you could use pink shade instead of grey for the arms and breast lines under the shirt and you could add more dollars as foreground with the firearm. Hair and eyes are gorgeous 🥺

Just like on the background 2 or 3 bills floating around the character, the gun is small and makes the foreground item too small, also for the skin tone shade there is actually outfits in game using pink and it fits dark tones (it's similar to blush)

The hair isn't behind her back, you can see the hair on the front of her jacket. But it does appear that way on the outer part of the hair due to a lack of shaping and shading on that part. And I didn't want to go too crazy on the shading or add too many outlines to my design, that I would have to remove if it was too excessive.

However, there are a few large issues- 1; you used outlines, which are not allowed as they conflict with the game's style. 2; you used a bunch of gradients, which are also not allowed. 3; The hair and background is much too detailed- Remember, these are going in a 4x4 grid! I would suggest looking at the style guide (Link in pins, I cant send it) so you avoid these mistakes in the future!

This looks really cute! I have a few suggestions though:
1; I've noticed the newer avatars being released are a lot more detailed, a lot more shaded, etc- so I would highly suggest looking at like, #dev-vote and #item-previews for inspiration to get an idea on how detailed you should try and get it
2; I would suggest moving the eye down a bit, so it works with the glasses and such in-game ^u^
3; Turn off the symmetry tool sometimes, symmetry is good to have, but it gets boring when there's too much symmetry!
4; I'd suggest putting the hair in a bun or something, so it doesn't look awkward without the hat ❤️

Yeah I really like this one (hopefully it won't be headhunter Epic pack cuz I don't spend money at all). Here are some of my personal comments that the hat for female char should softly lay her hair. Her eyes should swap with male char cuz I'm seeing male char has stronger eyelashes and calm eyes. And last thing maybe her bangs can be a little shorter and curvy like male char. This is looking really good so far! However, there are a few issues 😅
1; Some parts look like you used a blend brush/airbrush on them, which is against the rules. The hair especially falls into this issue, I would honestly recommend going over all of it, making it flat colors, and making the shading more simplistic. (I circled the really noticeable parts like this in blue!)
2; The irises look outlined, which are also against the rules. I'd suggest adding shading if you really need that detailing!
3; Part of the rear hair goes over the front face, fixing that is suggested.
4; I would suggest moving the lips down a bit, and redefining the mouth shape ❤️
Other then that, it's looking really good! It gives me a space/Astral vibe so far

A patterned sweater and a cute collared undershirt or a knit sweater and a jacket/shawl or even a scarf sort of draped around her shoulders would give her a nice fall vibe! Textured anything would work beautifully here because despite the background and her makeup being gorgeously shaded and highlighted, it is a tad flat!

But whatever you do will be gorgeous! I'm pretty sure I've seen your other designs and they've all been so unique and beautiful in their own ways! You definitely have your art style down, so I don't think you could do anything wrong.

The purple and grey dots on the hair weren't intentional, I probably just missed covering those spots cause I didn't zoom in on my design enough.

Thoughts on a Turtle outfit and a Picasso or that painters style

A turtle skin would be adorable, just like the other animal skins in-game but a Picasso-style skin may not get the best reaction or even look that great considering part of his style is thick, bold outlines to cement the asymmetric and organic shapes in his art. You'd have to go lineless and it would look too flat/cartoony without the outlines. Maybe it could work as a background or foreground with a very stereotypical painter/broody artist aesthetic for the actual avatar.

1. are the outlines around the shirt and hair just for display? if they are, then i suggest making an outline around the entire body (skin included, and/or the background flames) so that it doesnt look like an outline. if it is an outline and you mean for it to be a glowy effect, then add a second outline as well

2. make the pit of the arm more visible... and maybe have a shadow against the shirt in the body? also, is the shirt item a robe? just curious~

3. is there a version without the ears? and are there versions with all skin tones? it isn't necessary to have variations but at least having an elfless version would be appreciated... if you're aiming for a clan quest, there's no need to make an alternate version of anything

4. maybe have the shadow of the branch crown closer to it? it looks lovely as is, but i fear it may look like "too much" on lighter hairs

Digital art works with layers, each "items" is a layer. Each avatar items in this game is a block of one or multiple colours with no outline with shade/light and opacity effects. In a nutshell in regular drawings, artists usually draw the shapes with lines then create a new layer under it to fill the areas with different colours. You can watch in your own inventory for reference.

You don't turn it into an SVG yourself. That's only done if your design makes it into the game. For submission purposes, you just have to have each item on a separate layer and make the background yourself. I've seen some people get away with using stock images and blurring them/adding a filter so that might work too!

I love the theme you went for, she's definitely been taking Bob Ross classes.

There's just a couple of small adjustments that will make it look a bit more polished. The shoulders are exposed in the first one, making the shirt sit a bit higher will cover it up. I'd also suggest making the paint tubes bigger so they can be seen more clearly during the actual game. Small details get lost when the avatar is squished down to fit in the avatar slot.

For the hair, there's just some uncolored pixels that stand out and making the hair by the ears rounded instead of being indented/tucked behind will make everything a little smoother and less bumpy.

But other than those, it's a super cute design and I do hope that you get it in-game! Simple ones stand out more because there isn't a lot going on, so you have to make sure that they're well done and any messy bits are taken care of. 💜

Sorry for the late reply, but if you want to do something unique for the front then maybe you can do a blank canvas with the same colors that are on her face? Something abstract and kinda silly to contrast against the very detailed, oil paint background that you went for. It would also let people use the face paint without using the rest of the avatar items if they wanted to. Or if you don't want to do a canvas, then maybe something a little more refined, like a smaller version of the background but framed and her holding it up like she's proud of it or selling it! There plenty of gem quests that reuse the background/front as the actual grave, so it wouldn't be out of place to use the same item twice. It would show off the amount of detail you managed to get into something so small!

As for graves, I don't know if you can really escape the common artist tropes like a broken paint brush, a squished tube of paint, etc. Maybe a canvas with a bunch of holes in it from her stabbing it out of frustration? Or maybe take the log from the back of the painting and using the same paint colors write "rip" across it? You could also do something artsy like maybe snow balls spelling out "rip" or a little woodland creature?

some suggestions though:

1. There seem to be unintentional gradients, especially towards your edges, that you need to clean up. Make sure to use a HARD pen rather than a soft one when drawing!

2. You have a lot of wobbly lines. Clean them up!!!

3. Your highlights (the white parts) are mirrored, giving the illusion of cross-eyedness. I'd recommend you unmirror them.

4. I feel like you cant really clearly see the lines for the smaller parts in the eye like the heart and the gray line in the highlight. You might want to consider fully filling them in or removing them.

Ooh, you did really well for your first time! It's so pretty and shiny! You did everything right, the darkest shadow in the roots and end pieces, highlights not being solid white (unless that's your style), and choppy, whispy ends to mimic real texture! You're def on your way to making a beautiful skin!

But just as a tip, sometimes asymmetrical hairstyles look too big and busy, especially if the rest of the design is going to be full of detailed pieces, realism, and color. Messier hair generally goes better with simple designs that have a limited palette and minimal detail so the hair remains the sole focal point of the design. But there's just some designs that require that much personality and movement! I can't wait to see what you do with him! ❤️

Religious items are fine to use. We had two whole BPs using Angels/Demons as the theme with religious imagery. It just can't be excessive, hateful, or offensive to those groups that follow the religion. Small things like cross necklaces or earrings are perfectly safe and normal. They're commonly seen in the alternative/goth style skins.

However, if you really don't want to cross that line, then maybe move the scratches up to his throat and make them a little bit more detailed? Not super gory or realistic, but just redder and maybe with a drop or two of blood to add something other than three lines. Or just some simple looking tattoos like a wolf paw, a couple of black and grey roses, or maybe even a snake?

I would also recommended you go in and smoothen the wobby lines around your skin, espo the snake. In addition, fill up the empty spaces (fill tools may not fill everything)

gorgeous. i love them. however your highlights (white thing that represents reflection of an object in your eyes) are mirrored, which arent recommended. Also, there seems to be hints of yellow/pink in your white that i cant exactly see where they are from -- such details may be too miniscule and not accepted.
Eyebrows also feel too thick

love it. mouth isnt symmetrical on both sides though, is that intentional? if not you might want to use the symmetry ruler and make symmetry.

however, your lines, especially for the shading, are really wobbly and pixelated. They look choppy rather than smooth. Go smoothen your lines out.

again same issue with wobby amd pixelated lines, so smoothen those out. I'd like to add that your 'ribbon bowtie' is essentially just drawn on with white. I would recommend filling that in.

🤭 haha true I only had a few layers but they arent opac so the effect when they overlap is actually quite a few layers

And some of the layers come from the nose shading on the base

I did it so that from a distance it blends into noses of every skin tone

I will try to simply and make the shirt green then I'll resend to see what people think

I did 2 versions of the nose, one has one less layer than the original and the other had 2 less layers

I think it depends on how cartoony it should be

Haha I actually am still working on a few things that should continue into early next year BUTTT I am slowly trying to get back into designing, so until my schedule opens up some more I just plan to do a few small quest designs! She is totally based on me with the coffee cup lol!! The shading and the color in general are gorgeous! I don't think you went too realistic at all, but I do think it's a tad busy. There's a lot of waves and asymmetrical clumps of hair, so it takes up a lot of room and can be overwhelming on such a small avatar. You have to remember that when the avatar is in the 4x4 grid space during a game, everything is squished down into an even smaller space, so small details get lost, big items take over the space, and some things can get lost in all of that.

I think if you either made this a bob (shoulder length) hairstyle and concentrated the waves just at the ends, it might work better. If you want to keep it this length, then keep the sides of the hair symmetrical so it doesn't look as busy. You might even want to get rid of some of the waves in the middle of the hair and focus on the waves towards the ends.

Now this is pretty! It was beautiful before, but the more simple shapes make it look so good! I love how it can be turned into anything now, it isn't super feminine, but isn't too masculine! You could do so many themes from just the hair! You could do a badass knight/dame and do a fantasy background full of dragons and fire! Or maybe a colorful and festive Japanese New Year theme since that's coming up in January!

This is an amazing start and with such a good start, you can go in a million different directions. One of them will eventually appeal to you and I hope it's something you like and that you have fun designing. That's the most important part of art, enjoying yourself.

Ahh, thank you, but I just like spreading positivity and art is kinda my jam. Not everyone appreciates art or realizes how much time, effort, and emotion goes into a piece, no matter how simple it is. Artists are a different breed of human and deserve just as much respect and praise as the devs, so if I can hype someone up and make them proud of their art or excited to do more, then I've done my part!

Solo designs are normally gold or gem quests, so 6 to 8 items, and there's a couple of designs where the ears are.part of the hair! I personally prefer it because it frees up a slot to make a pretty grave (which gold quests usually lack) or whatever fits with the design. I also like ears/horns that are part of the hair because it means I don't have to worry about color matching or finding items to hide the gap between the ears and the hair. It makes mixing and matching designs much easier!

But if you separate them, then you may want to make the ears a glasses item instead and make a big, beautiful crown or decorative head piece that could cover the annoying gap that would be left if someone used a flatter hairstyle

It's super simple to get started! You just need a paint program like Ibis, Photoshop, Sai, Procreate, etc and the body template which you can find in every skin color here: #avatar-ideas message

Once you download your chosen version, then all you have to do is design! Each item has to be on a separate layer and you do have to follow certain rules, which you can find in the pinned messages of the channel. The main ones being that you can't have visible outlines, hair can't go behind the back, and you can't use blurry brushes or gradients. Other than that, just have fun!
