It's not that rough tbh, you can check the boss at the beginning of your run, so just plan around that. If you still don't get the units needed to clear that boss after area 3 then just retreat. Or just brute force it with relics, all area 5 bosses get clapped with debuff 15

N = normal
H = hard
VH = very hard
EX = extreme
