"Competitive support" was put on the roadmap, so I assume a ranked mode will be added.

it's probably not going to be a full mode rather more support for competitive events

Hopefully, if they add a ranking system, it has its own mode. I don't want the existing modes to be overwhelmed with bloodthirsty players, and Victory Island being necessary for the main questline would just get worse.
