the main thing that separates snakes from legless lizards is that snakes completely lack movable eyelids, and since im game the snakes can blink, and have their eyes closed while in the pod they would technically be classified as legless lizards, I don't know if it would be possible to change them to no longer be able to move their eyes from a static open position, being the only super animal like this.

But I still think that snakes should have eyelids when using emotes, though

those are the transparent eye scales, it does protect their eyes but it does not allow them to blink which is my main problem, I also think it would look very silly
