exactly this, SAR has its own rich canon and self-contained world; when it gently references anything outside it, those references are kept vague and generic...

People joke about SAR being 'furry fortnite', but this is not a 'furry game' and the devs did not set out to make a 'furry game'.

It is a game with humanoid cartoon animals that happens to have a following among furries, for obvious reasons - and furries are absolutely welcomed by this community!

But I think it would be a mistake to start including stuff that is explicitly associated with the furry fandom, as opposed to humanoid animals which are a generic trope that existed long before the furry subculture existed.

I feel protogens don't fit the spirit of SAR. Sure, I understand some people want to play as their fave animals, and others want to play as their fursona. But protogens in SAR just feels wrong to me. +1 for the Against Protogens in SAR Squad.
