#Boss meter in Runenberg is off
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hi Leiraion ! Could you please add your logs and saves ? (also, could it be linked to ||new runestones being activated|| ? I didn't play yet so I couldn't tell)
what is it they need again? DETAILED MAJOR and NORMAL or just the "TLS" log file?
Major, Normal and Detailed yep. (and potentially from the Old folder depending on when was that session)
But seeing that Biggs highlighted my message it might be because of the reason in spoilers. (or to also ask for the files
)
Reason in spoilers ๐
I don't think it's a particularly intuitive design for the boss meter to intentionally go backwards?
I think they were just saying that it's likely what the cause is
not necessarily that it is intended... I can't imagine you'd ever want a circumstance where the meter can go backwards.
it does go backward ||when runestones are reactivated, as well as statues,|| but the whole fight is actually quite unintuitive made worse by the boss meter
That doesn't really make a lot of sense though, you have to clear them to progress the night
multiple times.
so according to 'progress' you might be progressing the fight, but then you actually aren't because of how the stage is built
Right so just make the meter reflect that progression correctly.
right. just phase based. so initially, you get a little progression until things activate, then after each phase, it increases
If I can't ||spawn the first statue until I've killed the active runestones|| then that means I haven't progressed.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to regress when they ||respawn later for the next part of the fight||
That's just the next part of the progression -- meaning it isn't the same step
Never received any clarity here --- was the dev's intent to make the boss meter operate differently from all other havens?
This is a bug correct? Otherwise it's very unclear.
I think they had answered that it was intentional, there was a message mentioning something about it
Yikes --- I have a question if that's the case:
If I have a recipe that requires me to fry something twice, once on step 1 and again on step 3...
Did I regress in my completion of the recipe after I fry it and complete step 2 because I now need to fry it again?
I mean why not regress the boss meter in Elderlicht each wave of Soul Vessels?
I believe it having normal progress like others would be better, also make the final night max 9 turns with dps check.
I don't think that it was mentioned anywhere else but in this bug report? And I think it was mostly my interpretation that started the idea it's intentional? the way the game design person said "reason" instead of "cause" made me think it's intentional. Clarification would be nice
This was the answer which confuses me into: 1. Intentional because of runestones or 2. Bug because of runestones
The topic is tagged as "confirmed" not as "as intended", so I would lean towards 2.
Can we see that here?
The irony in unclear communication in unclear communication.
In the thread list or on top of a thread with the other tags, I thought anyone could see those. Though actually this one is "as intended", my bad.
Thanks for clarity but that's silly xD
yeah. This 100% should be changed so that it only goes backwards if you are actually somehow losing progress
It's not silly. It's bad design.
It creates confusion because the first reaction is something like "I thought I was doing the right things but now the progress bar has jumped backwards so I must have done something I shouldnt have done to begin with"
If the intent was to give off Microsoft Windows File Copy dialogue vibes, mission successful? Or to use another old meme "task failed successfully?" I'm not sure WHY doing that would be INTENTIONAL? I mean, it's working as implemented, sure, it's not doing this because of some crazy flaw in the code but... What isn't communicated is what the meter is actually tracking. The way we find out what the meter tracks on a boss night is to do stuff and see what the meter does. Does pressing "end turn" advance it a little? So maybe it's a timer? ||Does killing a serpent thing in a lake make it move? Does killing a corrupted plant thing? How about putting out all the pink fires?|| having it just randomly move around kinda defeats the purpose of the meter.
