I love when people are held up to set standards so the organization looks well organized and professional. However, I have noticed that people in this community tend to confuse Grammar with Punctuation when they are two completely different things. 99% of the time, when AEGIS personnel asks others to "Use grammar, " they mean to use punctuation.

Grammar is the way we arrange words to make proper sentences. Word level grammar covers verbs and tenses, nouns, adverbs etc. Sentence level grammar covers phrases, clauses, reported speech etc.

Punctuation is the use of spacing, conventional signs, and certain typographical devices as aids to the understanding and correct reading of written text, whether read silently or aloud and the symbols we use to clarify meaning, question marks, exclamation points, periods, etc.

So I want to ask to reflect this in the guidelines and train personnel to clarify if they mean Grammar ("Please use grammar.") or Punctuation ("Please use punctuation.").

This will not only make it less confusing for the Initiates and Cadets with training lessons but also for Wastelanders trying to pass verification.

@stuck rock this isn't an issue that needs fixing, it's simply just word choice. Punctuation falls under grammar and it's critical to many grammar rules, if users are having an issue with this then they need common sense, not a guidelines chance.

That’s why I made this post. English isn’t my native language, still very good at it, but when I first joined this game and people were yelling at me to “use grammar” while my sentences were perfectly fine to understand but just missed punctuation here and there I got confused as of what they actually wanted from me. Ofc now I know but new people or people that can’t speak english very well might have a difficult time. Thus this suggestion.

It is a suggestion, I shared my idea of what could be done better, that’s what a suggestion is. Up to the devs and you guys to implement it or not.

it's up to toml to make that decision as they directly edit the group-wide guidelines, and on top of that, i believe it needs chairman approval

@stuck rock When we are telling someone to "use grammar" we're talking about using correct words, Capital letters, fulls stops etc. If everyone understands this then it isn't much of an issue so there is no point.
