I just had my preamble denied for including the random package, which seems fairly innocuous as far as I can tell, and appears to be on TeX-Live. Does anyone have any insight as to why, or what I can do to check whether certain packages are allowed beyond seeing if they're in TeX-Live?

Did the rejection message have any more details

it just said
The package random is not available

#

just curious, but what do you want to use it for?

I'm trying to use it to generate random math problems (factoring, geometry, whatever)

I think I can use PGF to generate random numbers but it's a bit finicky

Looks like the package didn't make it into TeXit's collection

We will be updating TeXLive to 2023 soon ™️

Until then you will have to find alternatives to random.

It is TeXLive 2020 but I think the snapshot was made sometime March ~ April of that year
