You need to add the text inside \begin{document}…\end{document}

yes, I am importing/inputting this with \input{format.tex}, it's one of many files

Okay I have no clue why but upon manually copy-pasting the code into individual files as opposed to uploading a zip of them, it just works

I honestly can't figure out why
