As for steel, you need to farm copper ore in northern zone and then smelt that into copper bar and put that in blast furnace( don't remember the name one with 4 option as input) and u get steel

5 copper ore = 1 copper bar
1 Copper bar = 1 steel bar

1 zip will clear all giants and bulls in farm

Use melee for everything

Frien giants, horde and toxic abomination all can be easily killed by Melee weapons

I only use M16 for turrets

Just start clearing alpha with melee weapons and u will see the difference in your stacked guns in no time
