Hello Survivors!
Winter has brought an impressive number of changes to our game. It’s time to make the settlement more comfortable and pleasant to live in. Old friends will help you with this, and this time you’ll have a chance to make new ones and expand your company.

The Update 1.20 expands our second base, bringing new workbenches, a ton of recipes that include new crafting items, higher-level buildings, and a new game mode: the expeditions with the mercenaries.
To access the new features you must complete the LDOE Stories Act 1 first.
Then you have to complete Act 2, Chapter 1, to unlock the settlement and assemble the Level 1 Main Buildings.

EXPEDITIONS
It is the new game mode where we will have to fight zombie hordes in an old-school 2d waves game together with our new companions.
You can start one from the Expeditions Menu by interacting with the van or the Headquarters table.
Our character will shoot using the van machine gun through the lower right corner button (be careful, it overheats).
Meanwhile, we will be able to activate the mercenaries' active skills, who will be busy on the field fighting the horde and scavenging for loot.
At the end of each expedition we will always be rewarded with:
1) Mercenaries'Tags, whose balance is available in the Settlement section of the store;
2) New and Old materials, which are crucial for the settlement development and will be deposited in the crate outside the Headquarters. Be careful: once you take the resources out, you won't be able to put them back in.https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/757887119057485884/1051128667155210351/My_project-1_54.png
On top of these rewards, the mercs patrol the scouted territories to bring additional Daily Loot, which can be redeemed every 24 hours from the expeditions menu. The more you progress in the expedition levels, the more loot you will receive each day.
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/757887119057485884/1051131999101931590/My_project_copia-1.png
Unlike the movements on the global map, there is no limit to the number of expeditions you can start in a day: we can go on as long as our team will be able to defeat all of the hordes, while the specialist is scavenging on the background.
To keep up with the Waves' difficulty you need to increase the gear score of the team, and you can do it in two ways: upgrade your van, and level up the mercenaries.

VAN UPGRADES
Act 2 Chapters will unlock the garage screen to level up your van. The required resources can be farmed in the wastelands, through the expeditions rewards, daily loot and by building the new settlement buildings + their unique workbenches.
Upgrading your van will increase its stats and it will be a game changer in order to progress with the expeditions.⚠️ Be careful: as you can see from the picture, from level 9 you need a level 2 garage to level up the van, while from level 18 you will need a level 3 garage.
Many thanks to @south parcel @jade forge @mossy dew for v1 of the requirements🇮🇹
And many thanks to @thorn brook and @native sparrow for this more definite version

MERCENARIES
You can check the available Mercenaries and their info through the Barracks table.
Each mercenary has its role which follows the Tank, Dps, and Support structure. And each role can have its unique passive buffs. Both can be found under the Trait Section of the merc.
Click on More to see the full stats list, the active skills we can activate during the battle, and their story.
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/881481522354454558/1051458462523064350/My_project_copia_2-1_3.png?width=1052&height=701
To level up your mercs or to unlock new ones you have to exchange the Mercenaries' Tags at the table outside the barracks.
At each opening, we can both get stripes or contracts. A very rare contract is guaranteed for 100 openings.We can use the stripes to level up mercenaries at the Barracks table by clicking on level up, which will improve their stats and unlock new skills. Some stripes can be used to level up precise roles, while the universal stripes are common to all mercenaries.
At *level 20 the mercenary will reach the Max Rank 1 lvl.
Now you will need its contract to bring the rank up and proceed to level 20+ .
This is how it presumably works:
Level 1 to 20 -> Stripes
Level 20 to 21 -> Contract (Rank 2 level up, new skill)
Level 21 to 40 -> Stripes
Level 40 to 41 -> Contract (Rank 3 level up, new and final skill)
Level 41 to 60 -> Stripes?Higher Barracks/HQ levels may be necessary to further improve our mercenaries' rank and expeditions, like the minivan and the garage.

SETTLEMENT - Tables, Building Mode, Rooms, Energy
The new update bring in a new and more elaborated way of administrating our second base, with more realistic workbenches, new recipes and building features. This section will be gradually updated with all the relevant features about the building categories.
For now, here there's still some useful pictures that you can find useful

The new settlement workbenches and recipes will assure you a good flow of refined resources to upgrade the buildings and level everything up.
And it comes with a whole new feature when it comes to base building.
First place the floors of your room, then close it with walls + doors or windows.
Once the space is built and enclosed, the game will detect it as a room, meaning you can now craft and place a control desk inside it.
The control desk will assign a category to the room, and it will help you track down the progress for that category level as well as the requirements to upgrade it.
There is a total of 5 rooms categories:
- Storehouse, where you can craft and place shelves, barrels and more items to store the refined materials;
- Woodshop, Workshop, Foundry, Assembly, where you can craft and place raw materials to refine.
As of now, upgrades consist into placing rooms, crafting new workbenches as well as upgrading the settlement wall (not the rooms walls).
Here is a list of the categories and their workbenches.
Remember that some advanced workbenches will require a generator and cables, or the pump assembled and connected with pipes.
Many thanks to @polar root for gathering the pics

Level 3 headquarters, barracks, garage and walls.
Its suggested that you finish headquarters first, as it opens up another area to run expeditions, thus allowing you to continue to expand.
Settlement map + including rocks location
When placing the large generator, there are many open spots it just won't work in.
The picture below shows the best location to put it. (for me, top right used fewest wires!)
The pipes come out the bottom of the water pump.
Green shows where generator should be allowed.
Yellow is where wires are.
Rocks will appear after you place generator, add gas, and then finalize water pump.
Thank you to @vapid jackal for the picture and helping me!

Tips to build your base in the settlement
There is a central room in the base that has been improved. If you want to unlock specific items from a selected category, simply destroy the wall marked in red.
- base for rapid development
- possibility of adding new rooms in the future
- each room has enough space to accommodate new crafting in the future
