I want to move my pnid from my 2ds xl to my 3ds xl seeing as i barely use the 2ds, but i don’t know how?

you can unlink it with the nimbus app
it should tell you what to press at the bottom left
if the option isnt there, update it in universal updater, open it and press start, then open it again and it should work

Even though your PNID is linked to your 2dsxl, you can still link it to your 3dsxl, since Pretendo doesn't (currently) enforce the same restriction that Nintendo Network has
That is, a PNID can be linked to multiple 3DS consoles at once
That being said, you can press X while in Nimbus to "unlink" the PNID (technically it just removes it from the console), which would prevent a potential new owner of the 2ds xl console from having access to your PNID
