#I made a PNID in place of my NNID…I think

I just got a New 3DS XL from Japan and I region and soap swapped it. I have never had an NNID before nor did I know what it was so I didn’t make a U.S. NNID right away. The e-Shop worked fine before but now it gives me 022-2482 while Nimbus displays Nintendo as the selected account/server. Now, here’s where things get weird. Because I never had a NNID, I figured “well heck I better create a normal NNID before I do this PNID business.” With Nintendo as the selected server, I went through the entire NNID creation process thinking I was making an actual NNID not a PNID. I may have pressed the Y button to “run plugin” because I thought I had to to run the Nintendo account or whatever, I’m a noob😂 so basically when I have Nintendo selected in Nimbus, my PNID is my displayed NNID and I can’t use eshop… when I went through making my “NNID” (or atleast what I thought was going to be an NNID) I do recall seeing “plugin loaded” before I started creating it on my top screen but again because I’m a noob I thought it was normal lol.

I tried turning WiFi off and swapping back and forth and opening eshop and all the stuff it said in other posts nothing helped so far. I don’t know what to do plz help😭😭😭😭

TLDR: eshop won’t launch without error after installing nimbus and making a PNID in a scuffed ass way.

Simply launching Nimbus plugin does not mean that your console has suddenly switched to Pretendo Network. As long as Nimbus displays that Nintendo is selected, you will be creating an actual NNID (on Nintendo's servers), not a PNID (on Pretendo's servers), when you go through the process in System Settings.

You don't need an actual NNID to set up Pretendo.
But let's see what is going on with the eShop on Nintendo's servers

  1. Go to System Settings > Internet, make sure that DNS is set to auto-obtain and that you aren't using a proxy
  2. Open Nimbus and select Pretendo
  3. Open Nimbus again and select Nintendo
  4. Open eShop and see what happens. Does it open successfully? Do you receive an error code?

I know you've mentioned a 022-2482 error, but I find it strange that it would happen outside of Pretendo Network. Usually, that error means you tried to connect to Pretendo in an unsupported (or tester-only) game. And attempting to use the eShop while on Pretendo should have resulted in a different error code (005-XXXX or 007-XXXX)

Thank you for the detailed response I should’ve updated the post and noted that I found a solution. Though what you say about “when Nintendo is selected in Nimbus you cannot create a NNID.” Anytime I would have Nimbus patches enabled and Nintendo selected I would see Christmas beta in the terms and conditions meaning it was still attempting to make a PNID. Then when I turned the patches off I’d get an internet error on NNID settings. To fix this I deleted all my connections in internet settings then used my iPhone hotspot as the only connection, with the nimbus patches disabled, and it finally let me make a gosh darn NNID on the Nintendo side of things.

Now I’m happy as a clam and can finally enjoy my device lol played some Mario kart and got into netpass as well. :)))
