Hey I'm having a weird issue after installing Pretendo through the Universal Updater. It seemingly auto set my 3Ds to open the Luma 3Ds settings, it auto sets Enable Loading external FIRMs and modules and Enable game Patching to off (which I turned on to use Pretendo) and whenever I try to play a DS game (Like Pokemon Black 2) it causes the entire system to turn off instead for some reason. I've actually had a 2Ds have this problem years ago but I attributed that case as the system is just old so help solving it on one system would help me with 2 actually
#DS mode not working after Installing Pretendo

Was that after installing just Nimbus, or both Nimbus and Luma3DS via Universal Updater?
(The reason I mention the latter as a possibility is that it's part of the basic troubleshooting steps you may come across when searching for other posts here)
I've had Luma3Ds on my New 3Ds XL since iirc 2024, and I downloaded Nimbus yesterday after hearing that Yo-Kai Watch Blaster's servers were open for public beta testing
On the 2Ds, Nimbus was installed after Luma 3Ds was working fine prior also, but that was way longer ago
I might have installed a Luma3Ds update via the Universal Updater but I don't know if I have. Nimbus 100% was installed via Universal Updater
Should I try installing a Luma 3Ds update if I'm not updated?
I'll be going to sleep soon but if anyone has info when I wake up I'll be so happy lol
I'll try that now
Seemingly didn't work
Same issues
My apologies, I was eating and things got busy, now I'll go back on what you said earlier.
- DS mode: Nimbus and Pretendo don't do anything that would break DS mode in particular, so you are better off asking about it on Nintendo Homebrew. Consider recording a video of the console booting into DS mode and then turning off, with the blue power LED staying visible at all times; that would help people determine if it is a hardware issue or not. discord.gg/nintendohomebrew
Gotcha
It's so weird that this has happened to two systems specifically after downloading Pretendo tho. I don't get it
Hopefully I figure it out after I wake up
As for the console booting into Luma3DS automatically, it should be a one-time thing, but I can think of several other reasons that it would do it again
- The console was booting Luma from its internal memory (CTRNAND) instead of the SD card up until now, and you have installed Luma (boot.firm) on a fresh, e.g., formatted SD card that didn't have it installed before
- The console's battery has disconnected itself / is not making good contact with the console, e.g., because it has swollen/bloated up
- Your console's SD card is fake or is having file corruption issues
