This sounds like a NAT type issue, if you're failing to get into a game at seemingly random
Perform a connection test in System Settings on your Wii U and provide the support code which will be displayed in the bottom-right corner of the Gamepad screen

That should be type B I think? That's what my NAT is and I get type B consistently
Either it's something on your end preventing the partner device from responding or they have NAT type C or lower, which in both situations, nothing we can really do

I wouldn't say you are, since again, it's likely to be an issue brought on by the partner device and not you from my experience
I've only seen one case to my recollection where someone couldn't connect to a user with NAT type B and we haven't found a solution for it yet, but that's 3DS and a resulting error code ending in 0510

My suggestion, try play another game, try playing on other devices, either through emulation or on the actual physical Wii U, see if you keep getting these errors, it could just be a high volume on NAT type C/D users

0502 is either a ghost lobby or you failed to connect to the host for some reason
If it's a ghost lobby not much you can do just keep trying
If you failed to connect it's some issue with your network other than NAT
Check if cemu isn't blocked by the firewall, if it isn't try the network port graphic pack and forward that UDP port on your router

Though usually if you try to join a few times you eventually get into a lobby
