it's been a hot minute since i set up pretendo on my 3ds. today i was using it on my wii u and i figured that i should probably check to see if i have the same mii and such on my 3ds. turns out that i do not. i made sure that pretendo is active, which it is, and i went to system settings > nnid settings, but i couldn't find anything ahout logging in with my wii u's pnid. am i missing something here?

It depends. Could you show a photo of what you see when you go to NNID Settings?
Do you remember if you linked your PNID to your 3DS via System Settings > NNID Settings previously, when you first set up Pretendo on it? Keep in mind that you don't actually need a PNID for online play on a 3DS; it was only mandatory on the Wii U

this is absolutely 100% not my pretendo account. this is my old nintendo account
also, i completely forget what i did for the setup process. that was years ago
and i'd like to have the pnid just so i can have my stuff be synced across both platforms (like my mii and name)
