#Need help regardless hacking my 3ds
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
First of all, there is a piracy-focused app visible there, please don't show that again
Second, do you have an app titled "Universal Updater"? on your HOME screen?
The app to the right of the Homebrew Launcher, it is intended for piracy
Anyway, earlier you mentioned that you had errors trying to update Luma3DS, were you using the Luma Updater by chance?

luma is in a folder called "hacked" and idk if thats luma itself or the updater
i can send a video
Please answer my question first, the "hacked" folder likely is not relevant
i dont know man if
i dont know if what i opened is luma itself or the updater
as i have already stated
i think its the updater
when i open it it tells me to update or dont update and continue
Luma3DS is the Custom Firmware, it is loaded when you turn on the 3DS
Luma Updater is an app which was used to update Luma3DS, however it is now dead and non-functional
2.5?
v2.5
Nah
it tells me to upgrade to 2.6
Can you perform these steps for me?
- With your 3DS powered off, hold Select
- While holding Select, press the power button to turn on the console
- You should now be in Luma3DS config, take a picture showing both screens and send it here
The luma updater stopped working years ago
Likely Luma Updater, as the last version was 2.6
At least it's B9S
is it too aoutdated?
That updater would of never worked
damm
Start from here https://3ds.hacks.guide/restoring-updating-cfw.html
A complete guide to 3DS custom firmware
I was going to say
Continue into Finalising Setup and complete that too, that will install all essential apps, including Universal Updater
No, it only installs and updates CFW and apps
so 1st i do the link thing
oh and to take the card of do i have to turn it off or smth?
I can explain what luma updater did if u wanted
Yes, turn off the 3DS before taking the SD card out
even with the luma select thingy
Yes
Anyway gn guys
Turn the console off before taking out the SD card
Do you not have an SD card reader port?
not that i know of
Then how did you get Luma Updater on there, or was it pre-installed?
at least nothing seems like it but idk
pre installed
i got it from facebook maretplace
marketplace
and the guy who sold it to me told me he doesent know how to hack it
he just payed someone else to do it
Take out the SD card and pretty much try to fit it into a port that looks like it would fit the SD card
also im on a laptop so maybe that has something to do with it
Laptops usually have SD card readers on them
like most of the holes in my pc are to connect keyboards
idk man
its an asusvivobook
wait nvm i think i found a hole
k got it
what does the website mean with "root"
alr got the zip
The top level of the SD card, not in any folder on the SD card, it's the same place where there would be a folder called Nintendo 3DS
like js copy it on here
Yes, in the same place on the SD card where the Nintendo 3DS folder and the current boot.firm file is
and do i delete the alr existing luma that is alr there?
The guide tells you to replace
lord forbid i wanna be careful
Once you've followed the 4 steps that are in Restoring/Updating CFW, continue onto Finalising Setup
when i copied it it said that the disk was protected
Make sure the SD card does not have it's write protect lock down
Eject the SD card and take it out, then make sure that the little switch on the left side of the SD card is in the up position
oh okay i js did that lol
Does it still say the disk is write-protected with the lock up or does it let you copy the files in the Luma3DS archive?
Can you take a picture of the SD card real quick?
Take the microSD card out of the adapter
k
before the switch thing it read it with the adapter tho but do i put the micro sd alone now?
Take a picture of the microSD card and show me it please
You may now put it back into the adapter, could've just been the adapter not making good contact with the reader
k
keep getting this message, it says the same disk thing
nvm
now i got it like this, i js wanan confirm, that luma, the one that isnt the zip i jut got, that wont affect anything? do i delete it?
bc that folder when opened has other different stuff, like it doesent have boot.firm, boot.3dsx, and config
You don't put the .zip on the SD card itself
You extract the files in the .zip to the SD card
ooh
The Restoring/Updating guide says to copy everything from the .zip to the SD card
The Luma3DS version in the Luma config should now say v13.3.3
You did replace the boot.firm that was already on the SD card, right?
i extracted the zip onto the sd card and everything it asked me to replace i did
Does the yellow text say Booted from SD or Booted from CTRNAND on the bottom screen?
Booted from SD via B9S
Then it somehow didn't replace the boot.firm
Take the SD card out and try the Restoring/Updating CFW guide again
k
now it says this has protection aganist writing, and the switch is up, i even tried putting it down and doing the same thing but i still get this window
The switch may be malfunctioning, or your reader
Setting the switch down is supposed to enable write-protection, so flipping it down does nothing to help in this situation
Lemme forward an embed from Nintendo Homebrew
damm
Couldn't forward it for some reason, but here's the image
Use tape to make sure the switch doesn't go down
i just wanna confirm, it should be facing my pc, right like the switch
even with the tape i get the same error
Switch needs to be facing up, yes
If you're still encountering issues then it could be your reader that is the issue
I noticed that your SD card shows up as a USB, are you using a USB SD card reader?
i probably am, altough i dont know
i saw a hole in my pc and it seemed to fit an sd card so i used that
i can use other pc tho
If you can, use another computer with a SD card reader on it since the one you're using could be a problem
kk
i didnt get the error on that p and everything seem to be fine so now ill try to put the card in the console
got it
not its luma 13.3.3
now*
Now continue onto Finalising Setup
qick question
the payloads folder alr had something
do i copy what i have to copy there regardless?
Yes
If it specifies that you need to do something, you do it
Do you mean when you turned it on right after placing the new Luma3DS files on the SD card or was this after the first time you turned it on with the new Luma3DS files
with the new luma 3ds files
i was gonna do this
the other things copied right on the other pc
i put in the card turned it on and its still on the luma menu where we checked the version
so idk what to do there
If it still says Booted from SD, I guess it's fine?
Keep following the guide
k
what does "Writing to SysNAnd (lvl1) is locked! Unlock it now
mean
do i just press a?
The instructions for how to unlock should be on your 3DS screens
Follow them to unlock writing to continue the guide
brother
my brother in crhist
those instructions are the most unclear shit ever
im js gonna go trough
First of all, don't call me brother, I am a girl
Second, take a picture of the 3DS screens and send it here
Okay, good, you're still going through it
You've just done the backup
Oh you probably mean moving it from the SD to your computer
Yeah, do that
Now we can move onto actually installing Nimbus, now that Luma3DS is updated and you have all of the essential apps
quick question, these themes: https://themeplaza.art/item/127018 are usable with the theme software I have?
how could i put those themes on my console
I'm pretty sure that can be used with Anemone, the custom theme manager, you need to select a theme from the HOME menu settings first before using it though, the built-in ones work fine
You can get a QR code which you can use in Anemone by hovering over the theme's preview you want by hovering over it with your mouse
You can also manually download and place it onto your SD card with FTPD so you don't need to take the SD card out again, but I'm not sure where you would put it
oh i js found a folder with themes
so prob there
also imma go have lunch so ill go afk
Possibly, yeah
While you're having lunch, I'll write some instructions for installing Nimbus for you
It's fine
- Now with all of the essential apps installed onto your 3DS, unwrap and open Universal Updater
- Tap the magnifying icon on the bottom screen to open the search menu
- Tap the search bar to start typing
- Type "Nimbus" and tap confirm
- Press A on Nimbus and install the
.cia - Once it has finished installing, turn off your 3DS
- Hold Select and power on the console while holding Select to open the Luma3DS config menu
- Make sure
Enable game patchingandEnable loading external FIRMs and modulesboth have(X)to the left of them - Press Start twice to save and exit Luma3DS config
- Open Nimbus
- It should ask you to press Start to finish updating, if it does, press Start
- Open Nimbus again and tap on Pretendo
- If it has switched without throwing an error, open System Settings
- Tap on Nintendo Network ID settings, from here your 3DS will guide you through setting up what it believes to be a Nintendo Network ID, this will actually set up a Pretendo Network ID
- If you have already made a PNID through the Pretendo website, choose "Link an existing NNID", if you have no created one yet, choose to create one using the console
If all goes well, your PNID should now be linked to your 3DS
Note that you will get an email about verifying your email address, as of right now the only thing which it is required for seems to be Juxtaposition, the Pretendo Miiverse revival, if you do not want to verify your email, you can choose to not do it now
If you do want to access Juxtaposition, follow these additional steps
- After creating/linking your PNID, you will be in the Nintendo Network ID settings section of System Settings, head to page 2
- Tap "Verify email address" and choose to verify by code
- From there you can use the code which you got in the email with the web verification link to verify your email address
If all also goes well with that, you should now also be able to use Juxtaposition

when i open nimbus its says either nintendo or peamo
like i dont get the press start thing
My apologies but at this point I do not trust myself at this point as I am incredibly tired, so I will not be helping further for today
If someone else knows how to continue, they can help
Nimbus has been updated!
Press START to reboot
It should say that on the top screen to be specific, and only the first time you open Nimbus after installing it or updating it.
Anyway, open Nimbus and tap Pretendo to switch networks, then open the friend list (
icon on HOME menu) and check to see if you are online.
If online, you can proceed to System Settings. If not, please tell the error code you see.
none of that happened, on the upper side it didnt said nothing about restarting
i didnt get the upgrade thing
i pressed start regardless
and when i open nimbus i dont even get pretendo
uh oh, this is NOT the correct Nimbus app
system settings > data management > 3DS > software
when i log in
is it okay if i use the mii in my console
or do i have the pretend oaccount mii
like my pretendo mii is the one linked to the account, the one I see on the pretendo website
while the console one is the one linked to the console i mean
i get those two options
If in doubt, choose your (3DS) Personal Mii
whichever Mii you don't choose would be replaced with the other one. think of it as synchronizing your console Mii with Pretendo Network
if i wanted to use the nintendo services again, could i use em with my personal mii?
like i swtched on nimbus to nitendo
nintendo
would the mii i selected for pretendo stay linked and be unusable?
unusable back on nitendo
nintendo
i don't have an answer to that
either nothing will happen to it, or worst case scenario, the Mii might get overwritten
what's the error code?
if it was 022-5432, follow the solution below
Support code detected, press to expand information
- open Nimbus and switch to Nintendo
- open Nintendo eShop, wait for it to load fully or show an error (either outcome is fine), then press HOME and exit
- reopen Nimbus and switch to Pretendo
- attempt to link again
k
i js realized
should i click the lin kwith a wii U thing
or create one
js linked
what do you mean?
I'm afraid I'll have to delete this due to a piracy app icon visible, however I will paste the original contents of the message:
I bought this bad boy off facebook marketplace, however I dont know how to hack it or how to proceed, it alreayd has luma and hombrew channel but i require assistance, when i open luma it wont update.
