hold SELECT while powering on the system
post a photo showing both screens of the Luma3DS configuration, including the yellow text shown on the bottom screen

you have to tick the option shown in red here

(x) Enable loading external FIRMs and modules
(x) Enable game patching

then press START and make sure Pretendo is selected in Nimbus
