#How do I activate the Pretendo servers?

I installed the 3DS CIA file for pretendo and attempted to switch to the pretendo servers. When I attempted the switch my console booted back up and was still on the Nintendo servers, any ideas on how to fix this?

Was the file you downloaded, updated to the current version?

Sorry for the slow reply timing, to clarify, I am on Nimbus 1.6.1 and in the last sentence I meant to say that even though I had attempted to switch to a pretendo online server I was still on the official nintendo game servers.

I’m not exactly sure what other files you are referring to. If it helps, I downloaded Pretendo from universal updater

north marsh
#

Probably isn't running from your SD

balmy pine
#

I’m sorry but how do you update luma?

north marsh
balmy pine
#

Okay thank you

#

I presume the update happens immediately after I install it right?

north marsh
balmy pine
#

Just turn my 3DS off and on correct?

north marsh
balmy pine
#

Okay

#

Luma 13.3.2 Is the latest version correct?

north marsh
#

Yes

junior knot
#

And if it does say that, make sure to tick/enable the first two options: "external FIRMs" and "game patching"

#

then hit the start button to save

balmy pine
#

I have both options ticked and it says it has been booted from SD via B9S

Sorry for another slow response, however the issue still hasn’t been resolved, I still cannot connect to a Pretendo server.

Check your internet connection

balmy pine

It’s currently showing a secure and constant internet connection.

# balmy pine It’s currently showing a secure and constant internet connection.

If you already have Nimbus and Luma installed, then use Universal Updater to reinstall both again. After doing so, go to settings, then click Nintendo Network ID Settings and sign in with your Pretendo account. Then test it with a game, could either be Mario Kart 7 or Mario Maker 3DS.

Still having issues? Then I'd assume your SD Card could be faulty.

balmy pine
#

I’m sorry how do I sign out of my Nintendo ID? Is this a permanent change?

wheat kiln
#

I should clarify on permanent change. You can always switch between Nintendo and Pretendo servers when using Nimbus.

balmy pine
#

Will I be able to switch back to my old ID still?

wheat kiln
balmy pine
#

Okay, now what setting in the NNID should I use to sign in

wheat kiln
#

When you click on Nintendo Network ID Settings, it should take you in as if you never had an account. It should ask whether you want to create or sign in.

balmy pine
#

When I went in, it shows my Nintendo ID is still signed in can I sign out from that?

wheat kiln
#

Let me check

bleak ravine
#

Have you loaded the NN ID settings with Nimbus set to Pretendo?

balmy pine
#

That’s the issue, I can’t set nimbus to pretendo

bleak ravine
#

Elaborate

wheat kiln
#

Go to nimbus and send a screen shot of a before and after you clicked on "Pretendo".

balmy pine
#

When I click on pretendo in nimbus it would reset then stay at Nintendo

wheat kiln
#

Is this your first time modding your 3DS?

bleak ravine
#

Did you install the IPS patches alongside Nimbus?

balmy pine
#

I’ve had it modded for about a year

wheat kiln
#

What update version is your 3DS?

balmy pine
bleak ravine
#

No, the ones included as part of the Nimbus install guide

balmy pine
balmy pine
bleak ravine
balmy pine
#

Okay

bleak ravine
#

Read the bit about ISP patches then try switching across

balmy pine
#

Okay

wheat kiln
balmy pine
#

Yes

bleak ravine
#

If you've installed the patches, you should be able to now switch across successfully

balmy pine
#

I’m doing that now

#

I don’t have sysmodules for luma, how do I obtain them?

bleak ravine
#

You just create a folder called sysmodules if it doesn't already exist

balmy pine
#

I have the folder but not the additional files

bleak ravine
#

The IPS ones?

balmy pine
balmy pine
bleak ravine
#

Ok, so re-read the guide and come back here once you've down what it actually says

balmy pine
#

Oh my gosh, I’m incredibly sorry I missed that step!

wheat kiln
#

Did you forget to install combined.1.6.1 package?

balmy pine
#

Indeed

wheat kiln
balmy pine
#

My bad I missed it reading the guide through

wheat kiln
#

Glad you figured it out! Enjoy Pretendo Servers once again!

balmy pine
#

I will!

#

Oddly enough it didn’t work.

bleak ravine
#

You placed all the files into the correct locations?

balmy pine
#

Yes inside of the Luma folder

bleak ravine
#

As in /luma/titles or /luma/modules where applicable?

balmy pine
#

Sorry, what are those and how do I tell the difference?

bleak ravine
#

Ok, go read the guide again

balmy pine
#

Oh, yes I did

#

By modules you did mean sysmodules correct?

bleak ravine
#

Apologies, I did mean sysmodules

#

If all the patches are in the correct locations, and Nimbus fails to switch over, I don't know what it is

balmy pine
#

So as of now this is an unresolved bug?

bleak ravine
#

It's most likely something console-specific rather than a Nimbus bug. I'd wait to be advised from a helper who knows more about this

balmy pine
#

Okay thank you for your help still!

wheat kiln
# balmy pine Oddly enough it didn’t work.

Hmm, I do have one more thing you could try. If you are still logged into your Nintendo Network Account, head to the EShop wait till it fully loads then try switching.

Still doesn't work. Then power off your console, turn it on, go to eshop again, close out of it, turn the console off then try switching.

balmy pine
#

Okay

#

It sadly didn’t work again

wheat kiln
#

hmm, strange

#

ah, one second

#

does your sysmodules look like this? you could be missing some extra files

balmy pine
#

I’ll check give me a moment

#

Odd, it’s showing as empty again

wheat kiln
#

okay, that's what you missing then

#

okay, so in the combined.1.6.1 package, it does include some of the things that are shown in the screen shot i sent you. But you mentioned they weren't there?

What are you using to extract the files?

balmy pine
#

Basic windows extract

wheat kiln
#

Okay, that could be the cause.

balmy pine
#

The files app default

wheat kiln
#

I'd try using 7zip extracter

balmy pine
#

Which one should I use for windows 11?

wheat kiln
#

7-Zip. That is the one I use for my Windows 11

balmy pine
#

Should I use x86

wheat kiln
#

If your computer is using a 64 bit version, then choose x64. If your computer uses 32 bit, then choose x86 version.

balmy pine
#

How do I tell exactly?

wheat kiln
#

Go to system, then scroll down to About, then look for system type.

balmy pine
#

Okay thanks on it now

#

Files are copied, turning on my 3DS now

wheat kiln
#

Sounds good

balmy pine
#

It didn’t work :(*

wheat kiln
#

That is very weird

#

Do you have FBI on your system? If so go to it. Go to SD Card, look for Luma, then Sysmodules and see if the files you copied are in there.

balmy pine
#

They still aren’t that’s incredibly odd

wheat kiln
#

what model is your 3ds?

balmy pine
#

Original Red 3DS

wheat kiln
#

Is your sd card set to FAT32? Also how much space does that card offer?

balmy pine
#

Fat32, 512GB

wheat kiln
#

Okay, wow that plenty.
Um. How long has your computer been running. This could also conflict with managing files.

balmy pine
#

Oh just started it up

wheat kiln
#

Okay

#

oh

#

Okay, so head into FBI, go to SD , go down to cias, then Nimbus, then install and delete CIA file. Then close out of it, reopen Nimbus click Pretendo.

balmy pine
#

It’s not there for some reason

#

I’m not exactly sure the issue right now

wheat kiln
#

So it seems like dragging those files into your sd card just didin't save at all then. With the information given by you.

Let me try adding files to mine real quick, I'm curious if its a windows problem.

balmy pine
#

Thank you

wheat kiln
#

Okay, yeah that's weird. I just noticed that I can't even edit or delete any files. Does that also apply to yours? LIke does it show the trash icon greyed out instead of white?

balmy pine
#

Yeah it’s incredibly odd to me, I have tons of drives plugged in and they work fine but this one is just different

wheat kiln
#

Weird, let me also test my Wii U SD card and see if its being caused by Windows

balmy pine
#

Okay

wheat kiln
#

Okay, it is a Windows problem. I can't even do anything, same with you too.

balmy pine
#

Yes same here

wheat kiln
#

Okay, so the conclusion here is, we, Windows users, just can't even do anything at the moment I guess. Not sure why its just affecting SD cards.

balmy pine
#

Yeah

#

I suppose this means the issue is unresolved?

wheat kiln
#

Well, all I can tell you for now is to keep those sysmodule files till the next Window update. Seems like this update isn't working with sd cards for weird reasons.

Yes it is unresolved for now. That is until the next Windows update comes out, then I recommend trying it again.

balmy pine
#

Okay thank you again for all of your help! I appreciate it a lot more than I can show!

wheat kiln
#

Anytime. Glad to be of assistance!

nvm i big brained it out

#

For the record, installing Nimbus via Universal Updater means it should have automatically copied all the sysmodule files as well; there was no need to copy them manually according to the website guide.

#

That is, unless the 512gb card you've purchased is a fake, which would explain the sysmodules folder making its files disappear.
